Thoughts on Cotto vacating the belt to avoid Golovkin?

I hadn't seen that in the news article I read.

 

Really? I only joined this place last week so I don't know which way people were leaning on here. But Sergio looked really doughy in the buildup and Miguel looked in the shape of his life. I have HUGE respect for both guys btw. Don't think Cotto should get in the ring with GGG though.

 

It'd be better if he vacated the belt than hold it hostage while fighting welterweights and light middleweights.

 

Cotto ducking GGG is shameful. He should have his title stripped.

 

God I hope that's not the case. I've had some really interesting discussions with people in my short time here but some of the tripe I've read is souring me on the whole site.

I think Geale will be a solid fight. I give Cotto the edge but Geale is a good contender.

 

Oh yeah. It was literally at least 80% for Sergio in that fight. No exaggeration.

The next day? Thread after thread of "shot knees" and "fighting a cripple" popped up by the same posters who passionately picked Sergio to win.

 

ggg beating cotto proves absolutely nothing...if ggg wants the belts cotto will mail them to him...it proves nothing...cotto is a welterweight.....its a step backwards for ggg......cotto is welter who has moved up 2-3 classes....when will ggg even move up one?

 

Yeah. It's a joke 70% of the time. It's just chaos since Mayweather/Pacquiao was signed.

Don't worry. Last time Pacquiao lost a fight, all the crazy fanatics disappeared for about 9 months and the forum became a place of great boxing discussion. Pac came back for the Rios fight and it went back to being a sh!t-show.

Come May 3rd, it'll be cleaned up a tad. Actually, it'll take a month for the fallout. Come June 1st, it'll be cleaned up a tad.

 

Ahhh, i hate to see that. As long as people stay classy with it and say something like "I have to admit I was wrong, but Sergio didn't look like himself, knees looked gone" then I don't have too much of a problem. But somehow I doubt that was the tone.

 

i was at the fight...no lie...a martinez fan wearing a ginobli jersey(obvious argentinian) made a comment out loud "he aint fought anybody"...about cotto while we were having a friendly argument and me and literally everyone within 3 rows laughed at him

I scene the article and there is no mention of a cw. Hopefully it's at 160 but I won't hold my breath.

 

Hahaha it's sad because I love Floyd and Manny, they're easily 2 of my favorite active fighters and have been for some time. I was SO happy when this fight got made. But I go on a Provo/Matthyse thread and somehow it becomes...
