Of course Geale is better than Murray, both h2h and resume/accomplishments. Everything you stated is based on opinion, not fact. Fact, Cotto beat, embarrassed and knocked out the lineal MW champion in his first fight at that weight. Fact, Cotto had promotional issues with Top Rank which is why he's been out for a year. Since then, hundreds of butthurt Sergio and GGG fanboys have been crying almost everyday in this forum, calling Cotto a fraud because he we won in a fight everybody had him losing. Now, after that year layoff, Cotto is fighting a top 5 Middleweight whose GGG's best win, and people can't stand it. They can't stand that an old, shot, damaged goods Welterweight accomplished more than their hero in the twilight of his career. Cotto didn't complain about the catchweight while fighting the cash cow Pac, he took his beating like a man and accepted it. Geale should do the same.
I'm sure there are half a dozen or so Aussies propping up the bar in a pub in Wagga Wagga who would be interested. lol
Hometown of Argentina? I just don't know how people still hate on GGG. I like Cotto but a demolision of Geale at 160 is a much better win over a Geale at 157, plus GGG has solid wins over Macklin, Rubio, Rosado, Murray, Proska, etc. GGG is clearly the best middleweight around so I don't see how you are trying to say Cotto is better if he beats Geale at 157.
Yes, and the general opinion is that Murray is better as Geale. Certainly if we're talking about a Geale at 157, a weight he hasn't made in over 8 years. yes he did... and everyone saw what was going on in that bout. That wasn't Cotto's fault of course, he just got the chance to be in there with Martinez at the right time. Who had him losing what fight? The last gift Cotto got was many years ago against Clotty, but I haven't seen that brought up for ions now... what are you talking about? And yes, he is ducking Golovkin and it is very clear he does. There's a reason the WBC has issued a deadline or be stripped. I think Geale is a good choice (check my first post in the other thread about it), but NOT if it's at a 157 cw! It's the frickin' MW championship we're talking about, when your opponent is not free to make the actual limit it's not a real Middleweight fight anymore but a Catchweight. If you didn't notice, there's a distinct difference, certainly because many actual middleweights have problems even making the weight itself. Let alone 157. And nice you bring up the Pac fight and taking his beating like a man... so that shows that you do know how much of an effect a catchweight can have on the outcome of a fight. Wich means that you do know Geale will be weakened if true, and that it's NOT the same as fighting at actual Middleweight, and so not the same level as when Golovkin or other Middleweight names fought him. Finally... what do you think about Cotto not wanting to fight his mandatory, probably resulting in him being stripped? Are you happy Golovkin can't get the Cotto name on his resume? Don't you want to see the best Middleweight holding the titles, even if that means your guy might lose badly?
Middleweight is anything below 160.01 lbs. So yes it is. However obviously a weak move. Nobody would have had problems with Cotto dropping back to 154 to face a titlist (they would have whined and complained but ultimately would have had no argument). This is now 3 catchweights in his last 5 fights (153 vs. Margarito II, 159 vs. Sergio).
The general output is that Murray is better than Geale? Where are you getting your information from? Who said this? He was only higher ranked than Geale after Geale lost to GGG.. and Murray didn't do much better with GGG either. Lol at catch Martinez at the right time.. Martinez was the one who called Cotto out after Cotto lost to Austin ****ing Trout. He's the one who cherry picked Cotto, confident in beating him to get an easy pay day. What happened was a severe beating that sent Martinez into retirement. A beating in which people to this day are still butthurt about. Everyone thought Cotto was gonna lose and get brutally knocked out before the fight. What's so hard to understand? Middleweight is 155 pounds to 160. The fight is at 157 pounds. Cotto is a welterweight and Geale is a small middleweight. He's not complaining, he's gonna get a fat check and another title shot after losing to GGG. I don't think the weight will be a problem. Yeah I brought up the Pac fight, but the weight had nothing to do with that beating. Cotto hired some random guy off the street as a trainer and did nothing but eat pinchos(shish kabobs) and party in his retreat home in Miami. That's why he lost, and probably would of still lost even with a better trainer. Pac was in his absolute prime that day. I'm not a GGG hater. I just feel like it's dumb for him to milk money and title defenses fighting random stiffs and Eurobums in the MW division. He can move up and have bigger better fights which will enhance his legacy rather than wait for a WW to make some money before he retires.
Also nothing new in today's boxing. Golovkin himself once signed for a catchweight with Rosado at 158 lbs. His promoters then paid Rosado an unknown sum to raise it to 160 lbs.
I never said Cotto was better than GGG despite Cotto having the better resume. Cotto is a damaged goods, shot WW who's only looking for a payday before he retires so he can look out for his family. GGG no doubt beats and brutally knocks Cotto out just like he does everyone at MW. What really grinds my gears is the fact that GGG is waiting around for these other titlists who don't want to fight him. He's comfortable fighting eurobums and collecting easy paychecks instead of testing himself and enhancing his legacy by moving up. There's nothing left for him at MW except a shot Welterweight and a chinny, extremely flawed fighter in Lee.
He's a MW, not a SMW. Cotto needs to relinquish his lineal title or fight Triple G after this fight with Geale, which he might very well lose.
