How would this fight have panned out? I have respect for both fighters, but I have to admit Hagler was my favourite boxer when I was young. I was never a great Leonard fan, but he has to be one of the greatest natural talents ever, and may have had the style to give Hagler fits.

Overall, I will go for Hagler on points over 15 rounds. How do you see it, and what type of fight do you think would have unfolded?

Hagler W 15 Leonard. Leonard had been off for two years. When he did come back he looked less than impressive against Kevin Howard at 154 lbs. He was even dropped in the fight. I think he knew he couldn't beat Hagler after that performance, and retired again. Later on, Leonard admitted he was doing coke around that time. I believe he would have been more focused for Hagler than Howard but the rust, combined with Hagler still being near his peak, would have resulted in a Leonard loss.

Yeah hard to disagree with this. Howard was a gatekeeper level opponent and Leonard failed to impress.

Hagler UD, with a possible knockdown late.Leonard wasn't ready for him quite yet.

Hagler by KO.... This Hagler was light years better than the one Leonard fought in 87.

After 1985, Marvin was strongly faded, Ray knew this, and took advantage.

perhaps, but that doesn't somehow erase the fact that Leonard himself was past prime, inactive, and at the mercy of moving up in weight after years of being out of the ring.

Even in their 1987 fight I think Hagler over 15 rounds carries too much stamina, is too big and breaks Leonard down and wins.

When you consider that when they did fight, and Hagler was well past it Dundee can clearly be heard screaming " Only 6 more minutes son keep moving " I doubt he would have made the 15th against a relentless Hagler, who was only just starting to decline.

Hagler by knockout early. While Leonard looks for an early opening, Hagler pitches. A strong jab discombobulates him, destroying his equilibrium, and a right hook to the temple (the soft part of the head), and leonard's legs turn to mush, another right hook and it's over. Easy ass payday
