Who would be the greatest fighters if moving out of the way of a punch even once got you DQ'd? :nut

I think they should just see who the "real man is" and just trade shots. Only cowards move and block punches with anything else but their face.

Because clinching is the same as blocking, rolling, parrying and dodging and takes as much skill right?

You love them clinchers don't you? Clinching is actually illegal.

I just don't believe in trying to rewrite boxing rules that have been in place for over 100 years like you are. I was pointing out how ridiculous your thread is, by making an equally ridiculous statement.

Like I said: I think they should just stand there and trade punches. That will show us who the real men are. :nut

Looks like you probably had a lot of fighters in your top ten that would drop off to like 1000 if they couldn't clinch.

It's a simple, harmless question, who's trying to re-write history? Stfu

You're trying to rewrite history with your ridiculous question. Ali, Jack Johnson, Duran, Whitaker, Hagler, Hearns, SRL, the list goes on and on man. All of them clinched.

Clinching is a part of boxing. You're essentially eliminating everybody from the discussion. It's hilarious how ridiculously blind some of you are about this.

You can't find me a boxer in history that NEVER clinched in their career. Give me a break. Your own premise would mean everybody would be DQ'd at some point in their career.

If clinching illegal then there need to be warnings for excessive clinching.

No way man. It's illegal and they should just have points deducted and possibly DQ them every time they clinch. :nut

This is ESB. We only talk crazy around here. :smoke

If boxers knew clinching got you dq'd instantly, they wouldn't do it...

It is illegal, it gets a pass though. If it wasn't, the ref would never break them.

I think the greater point is they need to clean up the clinching aspect of boxing.

It's referee discretion. There is no arbitrary rule that states "X amount of clinches per round" or "X amount of clinches every 30 seconds." It's an impossible rule to make. There are just far too many combinations of fighting styles to do that. Some match ups will inevitably create more collisions that end up in clinches.

What do you do in that instance? DQ them both? :huh

The problem is people are ignoring the fact a punch is being thrown before or after a clinch. It's hard to say "somebody is excessively holding me" when they threw 40-50 punches a round.

I meant to say, if they knew it would get them dq'd right away. Because you are acting like the point of the thread is go to back in time and look for clinches in every fight and change the result to a DQ. Anyone with a brain knows that wasn't the point.
