IMO, the "Stevenson was offered more money" argument holds no water. Yes, he could have made more money fighting Hopkins, but he didn't fight Hopkins. Instead, he fought Fonfara, a fight where he was a bit exposed.

Kovalev took away Stevenson's other biggest payday in Pascal.

That's all true but this is still a duck by his handlers for one reason or another. They're preventing the fight we fans want to see from happening.

The split was already decided between Michel and Duva to be 50-50 for the Kovalev-Stevenson fight. The regular established purse splits don't apply here.

Kovalev was a free agent after the Pascal fight his contract with HBO ended. It was then decided that whoever won the purse bid chose the network.Kovalev signed an exclusivity deal with HBO anyway knowing that whoever won the purse bid chose the network.

Even if that is so Stevenson doesn't deserve a 50-50 split kovalevs stock has risen Stevenson's hasn't

Stevenson also claimed Kovalev isn't a draw, when he got a million viewers fighting a no-name in Cedric Agnew.

It doesn't matter both sides agreed to 50/50 it has nothing to do with why Kovalev pulled out.

If Stevenson ducked Kovalev before signing with Showtime then Kovalev ducked him now signing with HBO and avoiding a career high payday.

Kovalevs team agreed that winner of the purse bid chose the network before he signed an exclusivity deal with HBO killing the fight by pulling out in fear of losing the purse bid.

Stevenson’s popularity has declined a lot and can not be overlooked the risk of guaranteeing a PPV event in the fall is prohibitive..........
how can team sergey make a informed bid under these circumstances?

He still did better numbers then Kovalev and this fight would of been Kovalevs biggest payday.

I don't like Stevenson at ALL! He is a complete POS who fights with 1 hand. But if you consider Stevenson ducking Kovalev for signing for more money with Showtime you have to consider that Kovalev signing with HBO missing a career high payday in the process is also a duck.

there is so much time between the contemplated bout and the bid its not right for them to risk the winner of the purse and it could be any licensed promoter

She bragged that Kovalevs exclusivity ended with the Pascal fight and agreed that the winner of the purse bid would choose the network. This all takes place over a year when Duva first started negotiating for Kovalev to be mandatory to Stevenson.

Who pushed for the WBC to make Kovalev the mandatory? Duva

Who said Kovalevs contract with HBO expired after Pascal ( which it did) ? Duva

Who negotiated that the winner of the purse bid would choose the network? Duva and Michel

Who had Kovalev sign an exclusivity deal with HBO knowing all this?
    Duva and Kovalev

Who pulled out of the fight? Duva and Kovalev

They knew when they signed the exclusivity deal that if they lost the purse bid it couldn't be on HBO. It's just as bad as Stevenson signing with Showtime knowing it would kill the fight. If what Stevenson did was a duck this is a duck also! Use the scene as reference go back a year and work slowly forward!

At least when Stevenson left for Showtime it was for more money! Kovalev signing with HBO while all this is going on blocks the biggest payday of his career!
