No, it stayed iron, as it was back then. Neither the Young nor Ali instances were matters of chin (or Young or Ali possessing otherworldly power). Pretty clear why Foreman went down to both of them.

As for Lyle, he was swapping blows on an even keel with nearly as big a puncher as himself (and some might argue bigger?) - again, no mystery there, and you can't reasonably suggest Tua would have stayed erect doing the same.

Yes, only a rusty fairly inactive Foreman went down due to anything but exhaustion-& came back to crush Lyle.
One of those shots by Lyle, he seemed to drop like a sack of potatoes. HOow many guys ever get floored like that & come back to win? His old nemesis Holmes of course.

His chin was superb.

 

He had a good chin. Even in his comeback, he took some good shots and withstood them.

 

Love the Tyson nuthuggers who think he would have survived more then four rounds with old fat Foreman. You have to love casual boxing fans.

Prime vs. prime I take Foreman, though Tyson's speed & precision make it unsure.

But old Foreman, much as I like him, was way too slow with too low a work rate to take out Tyson or win.
Few serious bosing fans believe otherwise.

I would rate Foreman's chin very good. Ali wore him down and any chin is more susceptible when extremely tired.

 

Absolutely. Crushed him .. Lewis would have crushed him too .. Tyson would have crushed him .. no one knew this better than George which is why never never even considered fighting Bowe or Lewis .. again, he would have fought Mike for the money and the calculated gamble but I think he was very , very lucky the fight did not come off ..

They were better boxers,true, so they could've stopped old George, but would they?

Had Foreman not fought Holyfield or Morrison or Briggs in real life (at nearly 50), you'd say they would've destroyed George IF they met.

 

If Lewis goes for the finish, and you don't have something to keep him at bay, you are probably getting stopped good chin or no.

 

Seeing as Lewis never stopped anyone with as good a chin as Foreman i'm not so sure!

 

The glass chinned Alex Stewart went the distance with Foreman
and humilated the old george's face.
Old Foreman had only remarkable ko win Moorer but i think the
sport value of this fight is questionable(Imo this fight was fake).

The prime young Foreman has only 2 remarkable ko wins Frazier.
But Frazier was an unathletic,weak man.
(Norton was glass-chinned,Lyle was mediocre and this Lyle could
knock the prime Foreman down)
(Check Frazier's 1973s THE SUPERSTARS performance out.
This guy couldn't swim,couldn't run,couldn't lift weight.
He lifted a pathetic 160 lbs( Sorry but an average girl is stronger)
But the funniest thing was his 100 yard dash.He run a laughable
13.5 seconds, and we talk about a full-time top fighter.This is
the typical example of a talentless athlete.And the fantastic
"big" george destroyed this guy by TKO2 in 1973.

I don't like Lewis but this isn't true.Tyson had great chin (other question he beat a **** version Tyson.)
And he stopped Vitali by a cut ko.(But he stopped.)
And he stopped McCall (ok it was a mental collapse but he did.)

Foreman chin was good but overrated.He never fought and beat real prime hard puncher muscular ATGs (like Tyson or Lewis).
The featherfisted Young knocked him down in his prime. This says all.

 

The only guy who really hurt Big George was ****ey. George had some good whiskers. I am one who thinks that Tyson would have been too much for him to chew though. The guys who got Tyson out had legs and avoided his early shots though.

 

Foreman fell from exhaustion in the Young fiasco.
