SRL was well known for being the "star" in negotiations and pushed to get his way. For example with Hagler, SRL pushed for a specific style of glove, a larger ring, 12 rounds instead of 15.

If SRL didn't get those things, no fight with Hagler. But yea..... Hagler agreed to it all. And to this day the man is bitter about accepting all those demands.

If you want to pretend SRL "took on all comers," that's all fine and dandy. But I actually grew up watching the man fight, and that isn't what happened as talented and great as he was.

 

You're stuck on Pacquiao bro.... this is about Mayweather... scratch Pac off if you like, even though he fought Barrera, Morales, and Marquez.

Mayweather may be the best today, but in terms of legacy and ATG status he does not have the resume to compete against fighters who never ducked anyone and beat ATGs themselves.

 

He is the longest reigning champion in the history of the sport and has beat plenty of former/current world champions and HoF fighters.

I was a SRL groupie before anything else my good man. Grew up seeing him on those 7up commercials and all that. But as an adult looking back on his career, he did many of the same things we condemn current stars for, and you could argue SRL started the trend.

 

Yet, you purposely ignored the other fighters on the list. ... and regardless of who Pac has fought at 147... Pacquiaos legacy from 118-135 is enough to put him above Mayweather anyway.

I had an issue with you adding Pacquiao to that list. Who has a history of cherry picking after he left the 130 pound division.
