Considering soft chinned and nothing special Etienne took the bombs and won clearly leads me to think he'd lose to Norton

Brewster tore his knee out in the first round, and had to spend most of the fight on the ropes. If Norton catches a break like that...yeah, he probably wins.

That was like five years before his peak so it's not really that fair to count that just like it's not fair to count the ****ey fight. With that said, I'd expect Norton to win since he lasted against Holmes and guys like Meehan and Liakovich lasted against Brewster. Obviously, it could turn into a nightmare for Norton though.

I think Lamon was better than most think for a few years, he fizzled out,

he had really good handspeed and was pretty tough to boot,,,

sure he looked horrid halfway threw his career but if you take him only on how he was as for the first part of his career he was pretty darn good,,,

so was Norton, but I somehow see prime Brewster a bad match for Norton. Not saying it would be a walk over, just saying that Brewster in his prime went 12 hard rounds a few times with big hitters and a good pace.

Nothing to do with peak, he blew his knee out in that fight, and spent most of it laying on the ropes and hanging on to stay upright. It's obvious to anyone watching it, Brewster was hurt, and not simply overmatched.

    Same with Charlie Shufford.

I thought Brewster could win this but then I remembered he threw the kitchen sink at Shufford and never hurt him once.

Brewster was too slow on his feet compared to Norton. He'd get bashed up from Nortons hooks coming in from all angles.

That settles it, Brewster is winning, folks. I was rooting for Norton as well. I had hopes he could pull this one off.

Going off topic for a moment, Brewster's fight with Kali Meehan was a war. Still not sure who deserved that decision.

    Meehan is underrated.

I think an argument could be made he is the second or third best win of Brewster, Chageav, and Rahman.

    Agreed,

Meehan was big, strong, durable and relatively hard hitting. kinda awkward too. Not an easy touch by any means.

Yes, 3 years after there 1st fight a used up Brewster in his first fight back after surgery for a detached retina, and being off 16 months was stopped from coming out for the 7th round by Buddy McGirt.

Certainly it was an unnecessary war for Brewster. Kali Meehan, was just a big raw boned boy. His size was his skill. Like so many other fighters. A few months later Rahman KO'd him in 4. Hell Danny Williams starched Meehan in 32 seconds, so I'm not going with the Meehan is some underrated gem here. He had some good wins against other similar caliber journeymen.

Brewster was teak tough no doubt and I can't give him enough kudos for his winning the title in the ring and defending it, but he just took a lot of punishment. Unfortunately he is blind in the one eye today. As tough as he was, I still think Norton has to much skill and power and wins a decision, or gets a late stoppage probably from cuts or swollen/damaged eyes. Norton always had a good body attack, and could fight well inside.

Kali Meehan was more of a fringe contender than journeyman. The Williams fight was bad but early in his career. Other than that, he only lost to Rahman, Chagaev, and Brewster during his best years. The Rahman fight was an insane two months after Brewster. And he still wins despite being in his 40s, having only lost to Travis Walker while up since fighting Chagaev in 2010.

That might speak volumes about the fighters that Kali is fighting in New Zealand since being KO'd by Travis Walker in 2012. But he did give Brewster a tough fight, and arguably won.
