    Oh yeah, seen that before.
Fitzsimmons might have been the greatest.

He's wrong about Ali, Ali was great, but then I can't really argue against some of the points he made regarding Ali's questionable victories.

Except he's a mass of contradictions.

At the beginning, he says Fitzsimmons is the best based on his record (first guy to win titles in three divisions).

But he doesn't like Ali, because he saw his fights and didn't agree with the decisions on his record.

And, at the end, he says don't judge a fighter by his record.

So, I have no idea how he decided Fitzsimmons was the best.

    He's s a train wreck.

Plus, I think they deleted the part at the end where he says Jim Jeffries was 137 years old when he lost to Johnson. :good

He also started off by saying "Ali was a bum" and then later said "Ali was a good fighter"

To be fair, I think he meant don't just look at the numbers and the amount of wins and losses, but actually do some deeper research into the fighters and the fights.

Right, and guys who say that are always the ones who decide the best fighters were the ones they just "read" about ...

Because you can't disagree with a decision if the person you're reading says it was a fair decision, and you can't disagree with a stoppage if the person you're reading says it was a fair stoppage.

But you can disagree if you watch a guy fight.

They never see the hypocrisy in that. Whatever. Just gives me a headache.

    Peace.

Ali had trouble with Norton, sure, and Young, but that is Ali out of shape already. Fitzsimmons was knocked out by this guy Jim Hall when everything suggests he was in his prime, no?

    I agree. :good

In the case of Fizsimmons though, unless all those guys were taking dives for him, it does seem that he was knocking quite a few fighters the f*ck out, quite brutally, I guess.
And I doubt they had "British stoppages" in those days.

I don't know about Fitz versus Hall, but you're right about Ali being past his prime for those fights ....

... I think the man is an a$sclown because he even started off by saying that Ali was "a bum" ... then said that Cosell-Dundee-Ali hyped up Ali's comeback and Ali would have been forgotten .... but what about Ali in the 1960s ? before he was forced out - That was prime Ali and he didn't even mention it, just talking about Ali's comeback .. ... and he even conceded that Ali's wins over Frazier were good ... then he says Ali's a "good fighter" ...:huh

He was very muddled. possibly brain damaged.

Yeah, as if great fighters never needed the trainers... The same can be said about Louis then "oh, if it wasn't for Blackburn", or Marciano and so on
And Cosell only hyped Ali because there was Ali, you can put one thousand Cosells in trying to hype Deontay Wilder and he is not going to be a Muhammad Ali even though Ali was not a puncher and he is, you know. Ali had this merit, this thing on him like no one and that's a talent of his, there is no "if" !
