That's great! I'll look and see if I can't dig up the booklet somewhere, but I have no idea if I even still have it. That package is old.
Can't agree man. Mayweather's gonna win this, and easier than expected. I wouldn't be entirely shocked if he knocks Pacquiao out. Pac's whiskers aren't what they used to be.
I can't see it being "easy" for either guy. No one has ever had an easy time with either of them, and I think that's a big part of the appeal here. Anyway, at the end of the day, and not to sound like a broken record, but I hope the best man wins in an entertaining BS-free encounter. But I'm not holding my breath. :smoke
Good ****ysis. However, people tend to forget that Pacquiao's best rounds are around 6-12. It's always the latter half of the fight. He tends to spend the first half learning and making adjustments just as much as Floyd. Therefore, we are going to see a 2nd half fighter in Mayweather fighting a 2nd half fighter in Pacquiao. Both have their best rounds late in the fight, so it's going to come down to who's best will win those championship rounds.
That's a fair and interesting point. For sure, Pac finished strong in most of his recent bouts, both Bradley fights, Algieri, and Rios. All the same, he doesn't seem to finish as strongly as he used to from the Mosley fight on. The way he turned on the gas in bouts with Cotto, Clottey, and Margo was something else. He was a better volume puncher then, though - so I guess that in itself possibly accounts for the difference I'm alluding to.
Sup Rummy. I think your comparison between Pascal/Pac and Hopkins/Floyd is an interesting one and probably hasn't been made. And it's good to recognize you aren't comparing their styles on a micro-level, but on a macro-level; defensive adapter vs. explosive and athletic ambusher. Bold move to call Manny dropping Floyd early, but I could see it. Not because of Manny's power necessarily, but because of his foot-speed and angles which could catch Floyd off balance or in an awkward position (as you alluded to). And even if there is no knockdown, Pacquiao's opportunities rushing in unpredictably are similar to Pascal's. Most think Floyd will adapt in the second half of the fight; the question is, what does the first half look like to set the stage for the rest of it?
In terms of foot-speed and angles, this fight kind of reminds me of Jones-Toney. In one corner you had one fighter (Roy Jones) who attacked from angles and had tremendous foot-speed; in the other, you had defensive/philly shell expert James Toney. On that particular night, because of Toney's propensity to bend at the waist, Jones with his quick hands and feet was able to attack from one angle then escape through another. During the 7th round, commentator Gil Clancy makes note of Jones' deft use angles.
The first time of many to come flush right hands landed on Pac will make him gun shy....guaranteed. All those predictions are heavily Pac based despite that he has never ever learned to avoid a straight right......he usually blocks it with his face, I can say with utter confidence that FMJ hits considerably harder than the Mexican Brawler who put him in a coma. I find it hillarious that nobody mentions the slow as molasses thrown from the basement telegraphed right hand Marquez put Pac on his ass before he got laid out............that knock down would have ANY trainer worried.... Two possible outcomes are Pac tastes some sting rights and pulls a Tua/Lewis and beg for another payday afterwards or he will keep lunging in all wild and off balance and will eventually force himself to be stopped. One more time, you dont struggle thru you entire career with straight rights behind a accurate jab and all over sudden you do a 180 and overcome arguable the best straight hander in the biz.
Thanks for watching Bogo. :good I think you, me, and CST80 are all on the same page - Floyd will adapt, but when and how he adapts will be key.
Maybe not, but this is a gross oversimplification that largely neglects most of the elements that will certainly come into play. :smoke
