I like how Irish boxing has such a class ratio of talented prospects in a country which still doesnt really have all that many pro boxers. We are the definition of quality over quantity. I mean, we might not have nearly as many prospects as somewhere like Britain, but if you were to make a top 10 list of best prospects from each country, Ireland would more or less be a match for them. If Donnelly turns pro soon along with Conlan and Barnes right after the Olympics (and maybe even Ward and Joyce should they make it) we will have a lot of strength in depth. Potential world class talented in almost every weight division really. Some exciting times and plenty of world champions in Ireland's future me thinks:good Cant wait for a lot of these lads to go to higher levels.
You could be right bud I always had em down as 4 years older than me, Im very often wrong though.. He will need to get a move on either way as age isn't on his side ... Would have thought he would have stayed on to try win the senior title, he didnt perform too well against Gardiner this year he is miles better than that performance but Gardiner has come on too with the International experience hes been getting last few years
Burnett's a huge prospect as is Sutcliffe but saying one is a better prospect than the other at this stage is a bit mad really.. in terms of contracts, fights, promoters etc Burnett and Quigley and that are in a much better position at this stage in their careers.. Sutcliffes a top lad with huge power Id like to see him fight more often although I know handy injuries and the likes have prevented this from happening
Agreed, I actually wrote an article on Irish amateurs who are perfect for the Pros for irish-boxing dot com back in March. Can't post links but just google - irish boxing perfect for the pros - and it should be the first result As well as that I did 2 articles on the 10 Best Prospects back in January if that interests anyone. Again just google - irish boxing hottest prospects - and you should get it
where has all the southern promoters gone.... why is that recently its been belfast promoters or eddie hearn that have running shows in the south.. its a shame with the talent in dublin alone a dublin promoter cant run with it:good
Such a shame about Quigg-Frampton. There is no denying though that there is going to be two "Big Events" on this summer that Carl Frampton could benefit enormously from participating in. (A Quigg fight this side of the pond and the Mayweather-Pac bill in the USA) and Carl is going to miss out on both. Thats two HUGE career-advancing opportunities gone a-begging. I'm a big fan of Carl and his team, and Im sorry to say it, but no matter what way you slice it this has to represent less-than-ideal management of his career at the moment.
sure the same could be argued about quiggs management... im no fan of mcguigan... but hearns a bit of a c0ck.. u couldnt believe a word comes out of his mouth... either way time will tell if its a bad move on framptons part:good
Jason Quigley is supposedly going to be televised on the Fox Sports 1 card tonight: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CD1HHUHWEAAxxuk.jpg
