Mike Tyson Vs Floyd Mayweather Jnr

Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by WelcomePaladin2, May 1, 2015.

  1. After seeing the recent Tyson interview, if both were to get it on inside the ring who would win? The current retired tyson or the p4p #1 Mayweather?

And how would it go if both were in their respective primes. Forget weight classes. I think Floyd, despite the size difference, would be able to easily dodge the bigger mams punches but Tyson would eventually overwhelm him, only for the ref to step In... Tyson TKO7

Are you out of your mind? If prime Tyson were to fight any version of Floyd we'd be talking about a death in the ring.

    KO 7?

Floyd wouldn't make it out of the first round.

Floyds silky skillset sadly does not include defending yourself against a bear of a man that sent full-blown heavyweights flying across the ring.

I take the question as literally throwing Tyson right into the ring TODAY with a fully trained Mayweather. No time to prepare, just throw him in.

Tyson looks quite fit at the moment, he does some training with weights machines and cardio machines I think.
That makes it a dangerous task for Mayweather.

If Tyson was waddling about at 280 or 300 pounds like he was a few years ago, I'd definitely pick Floyd.
It wouldn't take long for Tyson to gas or pull a muscle or dislocate something in that fat shape.
Actually, that's where a man's natural strength and power can work against him, when he'd so out of shape that his body cannot handle the explosive exertion he can put into a movement.

As of today, Tyson might actually have a chance.

Are you trying to tell me a guy the size of Tyson and with his experience couldn't simply corner Floyd and beat the **** out of him. I find that hard to believe. He could hit Floyd's guard and still seriously hurt him, might even knock him down.

Well, I'm telling you an out-of-shape fat guy 5'10 tall who hasn't trained or sparred in 10 years, hasn't been hit in the face for 10 years, would have little chance of beating a Floyd Mayweather who hasn't been out of shape in his entire life and just come out of training for his biggest career fight !

I don't care if it's Mike Tyson. If he's not at all fit, his body is not going to do things he wants it to do.
And to Mayweather he's just going to be appear like a fat blob moving in slow-motion, a punchbag with a face drawn on.
It's not as if Tyson's a giant like Lennox, his arms are probably shorter than Floyd.
He aint cornering sh!t if he's fat and out of shape and huffing and puffing after a minute, the ring's gonna be like a football pitch to him.

But, like I said, if Tyson's even half-fit off the running machine it changes the picture significantly.

    Moronic.

How I allowed myself to get drawn into this moronic topic is beyond me, and given the topic I guess I shouldn't be surprised by the responses.

Sort of reminds me of the Tyson vs a Silverback Gorilla thread...

I'm sure there's more than a few Floyd fans that would say the gorilla is too slow for Floyd, couldn't penetrate his impenetrable defense and therefore he'd win a decision.

    Sucker Punch

You call him a ducker a cherry pickin sucker
You disparage his ways in the mist of hey days
One must understand the plan of the man
But selfish motives bring lies that are coated
with mean spirited ways that leave co-horts spayed
with lies that spurt the worst knda dirt with no license to diss Mike Tyson...

After Floyd knocks Pacqiauo the **** out, id rate him higher than Tyson on an ATG p4p ranking.

    I dunno, i'm not a Floyd fan.

I think you don't understand how boxing works.
    Conditioning is everything.

To say that the current welterweight champion, fresh out of a training camp, would probably be too much for a middle-aged out-of-shape, 10 years retired, former heavyweight champion straight off the street IN A BOXING RING UNDER QUEENSBURY RULES is NOT "moronic". Never has been, never will be.

I agree with this, though it will depend on the heavyweight champion, a naturally huge guy like Lennox will have a good chance, but Tyson is a smallish heavyweight that dependend a lot on his athletisism. I think it is a big risk that he will injure himself when he tries to throw punches like he is used if you just pull him in from the street.

I would agree if Tyson hadn't been a professional fighter and he still trains once in awhile, hell it's on youtube, so we're not talking about a tub of laird who never fought before. And I really don't think Floyd hitting Tyson in the face is going to cause him much concern, it the other way around that the concern comes into play. I do understand conditioning, but to suggest Tyson couldn't even hit the guy, is in my view wrong. And if he can hit him, he can hurt him.

Just pulled in from the streets, maybe, but Tyson still works out and boxing, footwork etc. is still in his blood. I'm pretty sure he would know the mechanics of cutting off a ring, and I'm equally sure that Floyd couldn't go a whole fight without getting hit. But you are right, that Lewis would have an easier time of doing this, even though last time I saw Lewis on tv he was about 300lbs. Lat time I saw Tyson he was about 230ish, maybe even less.
