Yes it does stand...unless you're too lazy to build an objective counter point worth listening to. I'll listen if you can put forth a good point... Here's why..Do I think Duran is the greater overall fighter? Yes I do...Duran sought out the greater challenges, and won some of those fights. Fights that I feel Floyd might not have taken if he were in that same era...quite frankly. But with that said...Mayweather has always been consistent (ie prepared), whereas Duran has not been...and that pretty much states my case taking their careers into account as a whole. Also with that in mind, I would pick Mayweather to take a series against Duran...I don't really rate fighters...but I would consider Duran a top ten ATG...Mayweather might fall in the outside of 25-30...but time will tell on that. Duran's legacy is secure...Mayweather's is not...yet anyway.
What are you talking about too lazy? You said that Floyd was more consistent than Duran and I and someone else pointed out that Duran's record of 72-1 is every bit as consistent as Floyd's 48-0. If you want to deny that or think differently than so be it, but it is what it is. At the same point in time Duran fought approximately 35 more fights than Floyd did but he lost a 5-6 of them. So at 38 Floyd was 48-0 and Duran was 87-7 and was fighting middleweights. So it seems to me until Floyd gets to the 70-75 fight mark it's pretty hard to argue that he's more consistent than Duran. All we know for sure is at 48 Floyd is 48-0 and Duran was 47-1 but Duran was 72-1 before losing his 2nd fight.
So you're a clown.. good to know. To even believe Floyd would beat Duran, and soundly so as you seem to believe, tells me all I need to know about your boxing knowledge. Floyd would get curbed by SRL, Hagler, Hearns and Barkley. In fact, it would be a tough fight for him again Ken B., W.B., Dejesus, Moore. The reality is, Floyd simply isn't as good as Duran, nor does he challenge himself the way Duran did.
What's so hard to grasp? If no one is able to impose their will on the other, and all rounds are close with neither fighter getting hurt, my guess is that the guy coming forward would win the decision.
Like I've said before...different eras. Duran was very consistent up to 72-1...ATG fighter...After 72-1? Not as consistent...hence the comment. And it is what it is...Still top ten ATG. but did he show the consistency of Mayweather? nope.
Math appears not to be his strong suite, cause this obvious point seems way beyond him. Might not want to waste another keyboard stroke on this.
