There is nothing more damaging than fear when you are a professional athlete it can destroy everything that made you once great, because when you lack faith in your abilities and Floyd has been slipping in recent years, you second guess yourself, and when you do that it makes you less confident. When a athlete lacks confidence they become inhibited because they are thinking too much, and when you think too much it keeps you from doing what comes naturally. When you are afraid to be turned down when asking someone out, you stumble over your words....that's fear. When you momentarily think that you may trip... your feet can become tangled and you may trip yourself up, when you fear you won't be able to go to sleep....you're awake all night trying to figure out why you can't sleep. When you fear swallowing a large bite of food it almost always goes down excruciatingly slow....

Why because when you think too much about what comes naturally to you, like reflexes and simple movements you notice them more and fixate on the hows and whys behind their functionality therefore you become self aware of everything that you never noticed before. And that can hamper what should come naturally to you. Fear incapacitates and keeps you from thinking straight and doing what's come naturally to you all along.

The most effected by fear are the most confident of people, because when someone has never questioned themselves or their abilities, and they have to do that for the first time, they physically don't know how to cope and they become easily overwhelmed and can't process thoughts as quickly as they should. Fear slows the thought process because your brain is cluttered and you are obsessing and not fully focused on the task before you.

Floyd has always been confident that he will easily beat every opponent, he rarely doubts his ability...but the man he's feared for the last 6 years is about to be standing across the ring from him tonight, the one man he is not sure he can beat, the one man he fears can hurt him, the one man who's speed may overwhelm him is waiting patiently with a smile on his face...because Manny has already had to overcome his doubts and his losses..... he's content. Yet everything that Floyd has built his life around may be taken away from him in a few hours, he has everything to lose and that idea is terrifying to him and is eating him alive at this very moment. Floyd has been shook and fear is an incredibly hard emotion to rid yourself of once its taken hold. What will it be Fight or Flight? Let's be honest Floyd has never been the bravest fighter, what do you think?

Totally agree Floyd is scared. Its like you have a load of chores to do and there is 1 chore you really dont want to do, so you put it off, leave it till last but you know sooner or later you will have to deal with it.

When that time comes you can turn into a petulant child, your blaming other ppl for making you do sometihng you dont want to do. Its not fair type attitude.

But then when the time comes you either just crack on and get it done or you stamp your feet and do a slow sheet job of it. I think tonight Floyd will crack on and get the job done. I think he will realise his worries were a little bit overplayed and he has control over the fight and his opponant as he usually always does.

Floyd was slightly scared of Maidana the first time which is why he did the thing with the gloves the first time around. He was terrified and looking to the ref for help the better part of the first 6 or 7 rounds against Marcos...and then he lucked out Maidana started running out of steam like he always does. Floyd then took over, and in the rematch he got his buddy Kenny to help him out and let him get away with Klintchko levels of holding without hardly a warning. With Manny he may not be able to clinch as much, Manny is in and out far too quickly for that. More fear.:deal

And your scared ****less too, as are all of Floyd's fans, because you all saw the fear in his eyes yesterday, you felt it, it was palpable. Now go on and do another one of the 6,000 threads we've seen here for the last week of fans trying to convince themselves of how easy an opponent Manny is to beat.

I'll try to comment on those after wading through the ones with online psychologists and body experts advising me how scared Floyd is. :D

Nope, not in the least I base it on being around a lot of crazy doubt riddled people and seeing how they deal with their emotions when they realize they are no longer in control of themselves. They freak out the moment reality sinks in and they become overwhelmed. S*** has just got real for Floyd and he has no where he can run...Manny his worst nightmare is here and he can't escape it.

I mean it totally makes sense that a guy that has been world champion since 1998 would be afraid to fight anyone in the ring.

After the last couple of fights and training it's really sinking into Floyd now that he is not the same fighter he was. He waited so long to hopefully fight a "shot" Manny that he shot himself to pieces in the process. The strategy backfired. Manny and Roach knows this. That's why they are all smiles and laughs. Floyd doesn't have the reflexes and stamina he once did. His shoulder roll **** and IQ doesn't work without these qualities. He's a walking RJJ. He knows he is in trouble if Manny comes in good. To top it off, he's emotional about it. Floyd is just looking too stiff and old anyway you slice it. This won't be good for him.

    Are you floyds personal psychiatrist?

Let me take one step back, did you go to medical school and do a 4 year psychiatry residency training after you graduated with your M.D.?

Because that silly rant you went on sounded nothing more than wishful thinking. Leave emotional ****ysis of the human psyche to people that actually have degrees in it, not some random poster who incessantly makes threads with dr Seuss rhymes installed in them.
