I believe that Floyd has feared Pac ever since he demolished Hatton and Cotto.

Of late, especially after Pac/JMM 4, that fear has dissipated somewhat.

He has publicly stated that "it's not the same Pac."

As the fight gets closer, he may be a little nervous again. Pac is a little bit inside his head.

Any fear/nervousness/jitters will disappear in the first round however, and will play no serious role in the outcome here.

If anything, JMM's KO of Pac will have a slightly greater impact on how the fight unfolds, than any Floyd jitters.

Do you guys honestly think he hasn't been scared of defeat in the past? I wouldn't take everything he says as Gospel.

He, more than anyone else is aware of the challenge ahead, and he is preparing himself by staying focused at all times.

I don't think fear is going to change the way this fight plays out. All his fear has done has made him more focused.

Not saying he is going to win, but I am saying a man that is 47-0 knows how to harness fear in a positive way.

Up to a week ago I felt his pretty numb and dull personality for this fight was down to him doubting his ability.

I now see it for what it is. He knows he has a big task, and he is simply staying focused on the job.

EVERYONE is scared before a fight. EVERYONE. At some moment. Ali was terrified before he fought Liston. He admitted it. Didn't matter. Dempsey was terrified before he fought Willard. Didn't matter. MOST FIGHTERS feel fear at some stage before they let a professional hurt artist commence punching them as hard as possible in the face. It doesn't matter.

This isn't a cartoon. It's not Dungeons and Dragons where fear = -1 to dice role or some ****. It's ****ing boxing. Of course Floyd is fearful of the coming contest. Manny is too. They will both use that fear in different ways, feel it to different degrees. **** me.

And I really really hope you don't actually believe this for one second.

    BOTH FIGHTERS ARE SCARED.

    Who wouldn't be?!

I'll go with Cus D'Amato's belief on fears, that it can be a boxer's best friend or enemy, as long as it is channeled correctly.

It's true that fear can make a fighter under-perform but then it's also true that fear can make a fighter fight at his absolute best. It all depends on how you handle that fear.

Plenty of people wouldn't be scared. Some people are not scared of a fight. They are both confident guys. They're professional fighters. They have fought many times. There isn't much reason for them to really be scared.

Not being some armchair psychologist here, anyone with decent vision can see that its obvious as hell that something is off with him and if you're not admitting that to yourself then you are in denial. As far as what fear can do to you, you don't have to be Freud to know how it can affect people.

Maybe I should go see an ophthalmologist because I clearly don't see it. Mayweather has been subdued in past fights, it happens to all fighters from time to time. What am I missing here?

Evidently you have trouble picking up on subtleties and the incredibly obvious, there's been a ton of threads some even made by his fans asking what's wrong with him...and it should obvious to most people he is truly afraid that his 0 will go tonight. Its not that hard to see, if you're missing it like you said get some glasses.:good
