You could throw away your opportunity to win the fight if you switch to an even worse strategy.

Fair enough but as I said maybe they didn't want to waste energy.

They could stick with it if they thought other strategies were worse. Manny caught Floyd a few times with the strategy they employed. They might have been thinking/hoping they could catch him with a good shot. If they needed a KO as you suggest, he is more likely to get that when Floyd is not covering up.

 

Manny was humiliated. He had no answer to anything Floyd does. There are miles of tape on the guy, you know what he's going to do.

 

I think that counter that Floyd landed on the first round made Manny hesitate. Manny realized he was with an elite counterpuncher and he could not afford to be reckless.

 

Pretty much. When Floyd was already landing the counter straight right in the first and second round Manny knew the outlook was bleak.

 

That's why Floyd landed the less meaningful blows and was on the retreat all night, because he knew exactly what the guy was going to do.

after landing 4-5 shots on the ropes there was no reason to continue Floyd is a good counter puncher if you give him the opportunity

but apparently for the judges Floyd's pats were scored instead of Manny's power punches

 

Take Floyd's approach and do nothing to end it in a draw

At some point Floyd thought to come forward and he got counter punched it was pretty funny he gave up after 10 seconds and went back to run mode

 

Pac spent too much time staring at May and not enough time punching. And he went straight in too much, should have turned him more. My question is: where the hell was Roach? The few times they did cut to Pac's corner Roach was all quiet

 

No offense but you just don't get it. PAC can only fight at one range. I can't stress that enough he doesn't fight on the inside or he would have success while pbf was there against the ropes. PAC also didn't out weigh pbf by 15 pounds so he couldn't bully pbf when he was against the ropes. If PAC was bigger and could fight at more ranges he might have done something.

The problem was that he isn't as fast as Judah was in the first four rounds and he wasn't willing to take the punishment on the inside that Maidana did to dish out punishment.

 

Manny looked dumb. He didn't throw when he had floyd pinned to the ropes.

He wasn't aggressive when he clearly needed it.

Floyd's power had nothing to do with that. It was the jab, paquio couldn't get past it and coulnd't cut the distance. PAquio is a bum.

 

I echo everyone else's thoughts. He caught a counter right hand from Floyd and quickly realized that this isn't Marquez throwing this counters and if I keep up with this stupid ****, I'm going to take a nap on the canvas. From that point on, he was content to make money for the campaign's he's going to run. When Floyd throws more than you, you are just there to collect a paycheck.
