It was a decent fight at best. Pac made the fight a fight while floyd does his usual routine. not lived to the hype for many.
It was competitive.... At the very worst 8-4 Floyd. Pretty close..... Either way toy score it only a rd or two difference.
They are probably the people who tuned in for a fight rather than a boxing match. Like most of the buyers of the event that don't normally tune in to boxing. The same people that agree with Manny post fight. If you like Boxing it was a brilliant fight it was the right result maybe 2 judges missed alot of Mayweather's scoring punches. And i'm a Paquiao fan.
Rewatching fight. It was a lot closer than I previously thought. I give it 7-5 to Mayweather. Guys...Manny landed some really good shots. Manny didn't throw a lot of committed shots, but when he did, he landed, especially his left lead. When it comes to the right cross, the jab, and the right hook though... nonexistent. It wasn't that I was impressed with Floyd, I was more disappointed. Floyd looked normal. He didn't appear any different from last fight. Manny was so flat-footed and his stamina looked like s***. Which was weird because he was fighting at a pace slower than what he usually fights at lol. I just don't believe Manny did all he could. There's no way. I still truly believe these two guys are competitive with each other, and something was just really wrong with Manny. Because there's no way that his cross, jab, and hook get shelved like that. He appeared to be fighting extremely one dimensional for a guy who has a ton of offensive ****nal. It was weird. I also think they need to get rid of Fortune. This is the SECOND FIGHT in the past FOUR that Manny once again is not in perfect condition. Bradley and now Mayweather. Either Manny isn't listening to Fortune or Fortune needs to change something. His stamina honestly looked worse this fight than it did against Bradley. What was concerning was the lack of punch out put. Floyd decreased it a lot, no doubt, but there were ton of opportunities where Floyd was sitting there in the high guard and Manny didn't take advantage. After Floyd got hit, he'd tighten up and shell up. Yet, Manny would seriously just plod in front of him and a few seconds later, Floyd would open up. I remember the commentators even saying how Manny wasn't taken full advantage of when Floyd was on the ropes. Manny would just plod in front of him and allow Mayweather to jab him back to the center of the ring. Literally. No in and out, no feinting. It was so weird. Pacquiao was just weird tonight. Floyd did great and still would've won, but... Manny was not Manny that night and could've made it a really close decision. why did he not throw his right hook, cross? Those are two of his best weapons!?!?! I just rewatched the fight frame by frame, and it wasn't used like at all. Not even his jab! Just nothing. He was focusing on his left and he has surprising success with it, but come on, that's not enough? OH, also, Mayweather freaking made fun of Manny the entire fight. It was hilarious. At one point, Manny clapped his gloves together and Floyd looked at him like he was an idiot and mocked him doing it back! Hahaha!
I don't understand. He had tons of opportunities, and he was taking Floyd's best shots fine. Whenever he got Floyd hurt, he would let off the pedal than full-foward on. THAT is what just aggravated me. Floyd would literally tighten up preparing for Manny to attack and Manny would do nothing.
My main complaint is both fighters fought like they got it made with the huge paid and nearing retirement. Therefore not enough motivation and energy was on display or they didn't give 100% to this big match.
Most casual fans prefer rock 'em sock 'em robots. This fight played out exactly as most Mayweather fights; his opponent tires of the constant twitching and back and forth movement, cannot land anything significant on the ropes or in the corners, and Floyd takes the fight down the stretch landing a few cleaner blows per round.
That's on Manny. Floyd had no incentive to "go for broke" since he was cleanly winning the fight. If Manny had turned it up a gear, Floyd would have had to respond in kind. Manny didn't want to risk getting countered and put flat on his back and so he lost quietly.
Put it this way. During the post fight interview Pacquiao said he thought he won the fight, so if you go by that thinking he didn't need to go for broke. Floyd probably had the same posture. Was Pacquiao making an excuse for not being more aggressive and throw more punches? At the same time, Floyd's team was indicating an aggressive fight. Ok, as it turned out they both had safety on their mind and it showed.
Pacquiao didn't believe he won the fight. He said that to save face. He didn't ask for a rematch, that's for sure. Floyd didn't have "safety" on his mind. He had "win" on his mind and he tooled Pacquiao like he was average.
