Masterclass performance from the defensive savant. Floyd Mayweather Jr is truly the best ever.

Mayweather neutralized Pac man so much that we never got to see what power or explosive speed Manny had. Floyd never let us see it. His footing prevented manny ever getting set and his caution also prevented any real dominance. Sure he controlled distance but it was just by his finger tips. Masterful patty cake if you like.

Yeah, seems my radar was a bit off. Floyd must have landed a lot of jabs that I didn't see landing. Perhaps I'll watch it again.

Picking Thurman next may be the wrong choice, Thurman is a bigger welter, Manny is game but battle worn

    He should fight Cotto again.

If he fights and beats Cotto he would then retire the lineal welterweight, light-middleweight and middleweight champion of the world, undfeated with superb longevity and weight jumping. It's all-time p4p top ten material, that, it would make him the greatest fighter since Ali.

I agree that that can be a final farewell 50th victory style high note. Cotto if he's still, there.

May's defense was too strong. It wasn't pleasing to watch but you can't criticize pure talent like that. Manny couldn't penetrate his guard when he had him on the ropes and Floyd never once looked to counter him like he does with everybody else.
I think this was the least entertaining Floyd fight since Baldomear.

Manny was a disappointment at making adjustments. Roach told him to use uppercuts when Floyd kept dipping down but Manny never did it.
Floyd kept bending at the waist to the same side on he ropes. Throw shots to that zone before Floyd gets there and hope the trajectory of glove meets head.

Manny gave away a lot of scoring shots swatting air after he cut the distance.

Vlad and Floyd have many similarity's in style, Vlad gets warned more for holding (heavyweights) I guess its the new style of boxing defense who take note of the many brain damaged guys of the 70's and 80's and 90's Quarry's, Ali, Hearns, Meldrick T,Bowe

Boxing is a tough game, not game, you dont play boxing, its a tough business

I donated $100 bucks to watch it in my living room but I have been a sucker before, Glad I did not go to Las Vegas......the prelims were fair, nothing great so these PPV take advantage of the masses

    Excellent post

As much as I hate Floyd's style, you can't blame him for developing a smart professional career, minimizing risks and maximizing benefits.

.... he will retire with an undefeated record, an obscene amount of money and his brains cells intact. So more power to him.

Having seen so many cases of retired fighters who are financially bankrupt and suffering physical and mental damage, I can't blame floyd at all for being so smart.

Pacman showed really good speed in the 4th round with blistering combination on the ropes...it's just Floyd moved around the ring so well it made paceman look slow. Against cotto and Oscar he was fighting two guys who had cement in their shoes.

Mayweather would have smoked pacman in 2009 the Same way

Floyd was 38... He had lost just as much speed in the past 5 years.
