This fight wasn't anywhere close to a masterclass, JMO. It was no where near Mayweather's performance versus Guerrero and Canelo. At some point, in these fights Mayweather was able to back them down, even walking them down with high guard. He wasn't able to do that with Pacquiao, from 1st-12th Pacquiao was the aggressor.

Floyd ran for 12 rounds and refused to fight or exchange. Pacquiao lost but when you chase an opponent for 12 rounds and throw the harder punches, you almost feel like you deserve points just for that. Floyd landed more but how many of those were pillow punches? soft jabs? He probably hit Pacquiao with 3 good punches all fight, punches Pac felt.

If people want to be critical with FLoyd Mayweather, than they better get really critical with guys like WHitaker and Willie Pep, because he fights in that same mold. And last time I checked, those 2 guys are super ATG's.

That was no masterclass. An example of a Foyd masterclass was against Mosley or Marquez. This was just him taking as little risk as possible and refusing to engage. It was a smart victory and he knew how to control distance, but nothing more.

What was the point of Mayweather using a puncher's glove?

For sure, you can always count on Floyd fights to be a perfect sleeping aid. No one does it better.

Well it ain't hard to befuddle a guy who can't box, when you can..... Just say'n.:bbb

Manny still fights like he is on the streets of Manila.....and as and old boxing coach of mine once said "Once they get hurt or frustrated, they go back to their natural style of fighting no matter how they have been trained. " AMEN

It wasn't a masterclass like Mayweather-JMM, but Floyd had everything under control and didn't allow Pacman to develop his usual gamplan. That was indeed amazing since Pacquiao is the best offensive fighter in the world. Floyd is more intelligent and disarmed Pacquiao.

    He beat a legend.

I'm glad it's over. I know Pac fans were up set, but what did they really expect? Floyd has shown throughout his career, that he's the better skilled fighter. Floyd has never dropped lower than the P4P #2 spot since he became #1, and only went to #2 because he stepped down. Pac fans was completely delusional by the media hype of Pac. To think he would run over Floyd, like he did to his other opponents, and Roach is another story. All that talk he did, just to fall short again against Floyd. He need to find a hole in the wall, crawl his ass in it, and don't come out.

    TRUE

    Not sure.

Maybe he believed that Floyd was going to change his style (he had bulked up somewhat) and was going to try to brawl with him.

    Fair comment

    I think he did.

    Neither man is at prime.

If Floyd brought less than his (2015) A-game, it might have ended badly for him

    Hatton ?

    Cotto ?

    Oscar ?

    Even Shane.

Pac beat them all a lot worse and with greater ease than did Floyd.

Haven't heard the details of the injury.

It would have been very difficult to reschedule this fight for anything other than a serious debilitating injury.

From Pac's POV at the time of the interview, it's a fair take.

He was the aggressor for most of the fight. Floyd 'ran.' Floyd initiated all of the clinches and did all of the holding. The hardest shots were landed by Pac...etc.

At the moment he was asked, he probably felt he DID win.

As a Pac fan, I scored it 8-4 for Floyd. 9-3 or 7-5 at a stretch.

I expect Pac will realize this when he has a chance to watch the fight well after the event.

    Fair scoring.

I'd give him an A- here. Pretty good win and it should move him up the ATG list a bit.

i disagree. vegas/usada/memo did 90pct of the job. 8 pct floyd ran and the 2 pct, he flicked his left hand to pac;s gloves and threw occassional grazing rights.

judges "oops, scoring blows. got it".

Problem is, Mayweather is too good.

He is lightyears ahead of anyone in boxing. Lesser skilled fighters make exciting fights.
