Did Willie ever "RETIRE" for good because he was being harassed to fight contenders he was scared of??? NO!!!!!

Did Willie complain that his opponents " Roughed him up & bullied him???? NO!!!

Did Willie's Dad say' I'll never let little Willie fight that monster his health comes first before money"

complain about guys moving instead of standing there for him
complain about socks
complain about shoes
complain about some mysterious shoulder injury
complain about blood weakening him
say he won the fight when he clearly lost

Everyone of those great fighters would have served it up to Floyd. And Floyd would have almost certainly suffered several serious hidings.

But since Floyd started at SFW and Leonard and Hearns won their first world title at WW, one could say "Imagine Hearns/Leonard fighting prime Michael Spinks, Ezzard Charles or Archie Moore?" Or how about "Imagine Monzon fighting prime Rocky Marciano or Evander Holyfield?"

That said, Duran is a very good call and definitely a fair comparison!! And whilst Duran was (in my opinion) clearly superior to Floyd , is it really a disgrace for FMJ to be behind one of the greatest fighters of all time?

Floyd the TBE?? Certainly not!! But a high ranking ATG (top 30-50 at least) in his own right? Absolutely!!

 

I actually think that as time goes by 5,10,15 years and beyond from now Floyd will be made out to be greater than he really is. The legend will be better than the fighter ever was.

 

Definitely best of our era, can't call him best ever. Can't compare him to the most elite because

1.He didn't fight as often as they did.
2.He always fought on his terms since he beat DLH.
3.He always selected who he wanted instead of what everyone wanted to see.

I will admit he mastered the sport of how to win a boxing match. Looked like a simple routine for him, I had no doubt he would win this fight before it even happened.

 

You'd Never get Fraud in the ring with GGG. Hell he has to get roided up, pick his officials, complain like a woman with PMS about everything Tbe??? TBF The Biggest Fraud maybe

 

That is indeed a distinct possibility. Particularly if no-one great comes along during that time... or someone like Canelo ends up having a H. O. F career.

I'm going to get slated for saying this but I don't care. (I've seen it in numerous threads since the fight)

People look back at boxers from the past and hear how good they were and all this high level competition. In my opinion todays boxers in general are better than years gone by. You can say such and such has over 100 wins and maybe 80 by KO. But id say 3/4 of that competition wouldn't even make it professional today. They would never have records like that against todays boxers. You might not like Mayweather and how he picks his fights but I honestly think he'd beat any welterweight in history. Today's boxers have better training facilities, better trainers and like it or not better drugs.

It's only my opinion. Mayweather is one of the best ever.

 

Just got one more thing to add Floyd got the decision & got the win bu Manny won the crowd over
