I Honestly don't know if their will be enough fans on board with the idea of a rematch, especially with such astronomical PPV prices.

the safe bet would be seeing FLoyd against Miguel Cotto, a guy with a large fanbase as well and the current lineal champion at MW. That fight makes a LOT more sense, and it could allow FLoyd to capture his 5th lineal championship and make him a simultaneous champion in 3 weight classes (if he decides not to relinquish his belts and pay the associated fees for the belts.)

    1. Casuals still only know of Mayweather and Pacquiao, no one else. So, if they can really play up the "injury" narrative, casuals will buy into it. In fact, I just told a casual fan and she said, "They need to do a rematch then." I said, "It's possible." And she said, "Good." So, Pacquiao/Mayweather would still be the only fight Mayweather could sell that'll bring him the most money.

    2. Pacquiao will accept the lower split. Arum just cashed out, and they will 100% absolutely not make more money with anyone else. With an 80/20 split, Pac would still make more money than with any other fighter. You do realize, Pacquiao has no reason to be watched now that he lost to Mayweather? It was the mystery of him being "The One" that drew attention to him. Now that he lost, no one cares about him. Especially casuals. He's obviously not the best. But, Mayweather/Pacquiao 2, will be the most money he could make because he is reconnected to Mayweather's name and hyped up.

    3. Just letting you know, 99% of the boxing writers also said May/Pac was never happening. I on the other hand said it would last October.
Showtime/HBO now have the blueprint on how to work together, and there really wasn't any issue between them. It was more Mayweather Promotions and Top Rank.

    4. Floyd likes money. Floyd chooses the best financial route. Pacquiao is low risk and the highest reward Floyd could choose. Other fighters young and coming up that are left are high risk and low reward. The smartest thing for Floyd to do, money and risk wise, is to hype up a second Pacquiao fight for September.

And it was for sure one sided, but that doesn't mean it wasn't competitive. It was extremely competitive up to the sixth round and in a few later rounds.

What else was he going to land? He's been basically a one handed fighter his whole career
