I must admit having watched the fight over again a couple of times it was a lot closer than I originally thought.

What more could Pac have done really? He was pushing the aggression all night. There's no way you can beat Floyd when he employs the tactics he did.

I thought Pac visibly hurt Floyd a few times. Loved it when Pac had him up against the ropes and Floyd was shaking his head. He felt Pacs power and wanted nothing to do with.

Floyd won yes but people calling it a masterclass is way over the top IMO.

the biggest pressure fight of his career and he came out on top. fan or not, he achieved what he needed to, I don't think most people can even start to understand that type of pressure. we were having heart attacks just waiting for the event. Mayweather went in there and defused Pac, Pac was unable to force the fight and make it more interesting, he has to take some blame for that. I am more a Pac fan but you just have to put that stuff aside and see it for what it is.

Even though Pac had a shoulder injury and was close to shot you could still see glimpses round 4 and 6 he won other rounds but those rounds were the most dominating rounds of either fighter

every left hand that landed has a big effect on mayweather

Pac was handicapped in the fight he could not throw as he wanted because of the pain

Get help you lunatic. Your hero got schooled by someone you don't like. Just accept it. It will make things easier once you do although I think there are a few stages you'll have to go through to get from denial to acceptance.

Its simple, Floyd wanted to fight his way, fair enough. He was the one that kept it at range and moved. So you could understand people blaming him for the fight not being great. However people aren't taking Pacquiao into consideration, he threw less punches, landed much less and really didn't apply the pressure for an extended period of time. Pacquiao could have made the fight interesting but he either didn't want to fight like that or he simply wasn't good enough to do it.

I'd agree that Mayweather's win is overstated a bit, I guess it was a masterclass in terms of nullifying his opponent but I don't feel he dominated enough for it to actually be called a masterclass performance. If it was a 15 round fight and he started to pick Manny apart more then maybe it might have been. It was a good win though, considering the pressure involved in this event. One thing you can say about Mayweather is he don't choke, he keeps his mind on the game and wins. Pac did well not to let it get to the point he was going to get picked apart.

I think Work the body's statement holds true in response, when he says:
Floyd did the right thing from the standpoint of wanting to win safely - but it was no longer a boxing match, it was a mockery and will never be seen in history as a 'fight'.

It was hard for Manny to throw as Floyd would run or clinch, and Manny has to at least be calculated at this level in his attack rather than truly reckless. Most of the time when Manny at least had reasonable scope to try to land more, Floyd immediately went in for the clinch or just destroyed the construct by cowardly running. There's no other term for it.

What I've actually seen from Floyd is that when you come to attack him properly, Floyd's brain can't handle it and he mentally shuts down and is a sitting duck. This was very much exemplified in the fight against Maidana 1, so much so that had Maidana paced himself and chose to RUN after being ahead in the rounds (being a Mayweather level coward), he would have actually decisively won. A nuance people haven't taken the time to realise yet.

    Important point here:
But then again, if this fight was in 2009, then we would have seen Manny be ok with getting hit in order to land a few of his own. - this is one of the reasons why Floyd should not get much credit for this win..the very threat of Manny Pacquiao had been removed in 2012 by Marquez. That changed Manny forever, as well as him losing his killer instinct by 2011.
This was a legitimately past prime Pacquiao.

If you dispute this, watch the highlights of Morales-Pacquiao and remember that we even saw prime Pacquiao walk over big shots from Cotto who is much bigger and a bigger puncher than Cotto.

Canelo was a masterclass performance. He engaged a lot more in that fight and dominated. I'm not particularly a big fan of Floyd but I really enjoyed his performance in that fight.

Pac was probably scared of getting knocked out but so was Floyd.
