Tuff fight last night for Manny Pacquiao....I just want to feel everyone in on all the rumors! We were asked not to mention anything to anyone but Yes manny got hurt during this camp with his right shoulder and it was messed up pretty bad! So bad his sparring partners including myself were asked to go home a few weeks out before the actual fight, which means a lot of work he could have put in for this fight was brought to a hault due to the fact that he could not spar really anymore and didn't wanna mess it up more than he already had, manny no matter what wasn't going to let his family, fans and friends down by post poning the fight so he was gonna just fight through the pain! I take my hat off to him because even faced with the adversity he had going into this fight, in my mind he had the better action moments in the fight and still tried to engage with a messed up shoulder and still went 12 rounds with the greatest fighter in the world today! No shame at all manny you did what you had to do and you are still the peoples champion also at the end of the day you put your family in a better position and made your country men proud! If everyone knew what I knew you would be loved even more than how you are now! Thank you again for the experience and making me apart of this historic event memories I will cherish forever! No excuses at all being made the injury was real! Hats off to mayweather for another victory in his already luxurious career! GOD bless both fighters and the world appreciates you both! Disclaimer: I had the fight 116-112, a win for Mayweather. It was an abysmal fight to watch, any tension we felt was pre-conditioned by the hype and the stakes involved.
Holyfield, Mosley and Lomachenko had Pacquiao winning - all appealing to effective aggression.

I am embarrassed to admit to casual boxing fans that Mayweather is the best of this generation. The boxer at the pinnacle of the sport wins a fight by utilising clinching and running - this is what skills are at the top level? People are laughing at boxing.

Floyd Mayweather's concern was winning, and in that he took the fighting out of boxing - it was no longer boxing and we have seen lesser fighters do the same thing to help 'win' fights with clinching and running. By the way, must we call Klitschko's clinching performance against Povetkin a work of mastery?
There's no real ' masterful skill' in that.

I don't want to hear comments like 'well, Roach and Manny should have known better and found away to press the attack'.
Whenever Pacquiao tried to cut off the ring, Floyd LITERALLY RAN.

Have you ever envisioned a Golovkin-Floyd fight? Golovkin cuts off the ring better than Manny, Floyd will actually sprint away until Golovkin eventually KO's him with his extra-terrestrial power. An expression of defensive genius? Sure, buddy.

You've forgotten what the term masterclass refers to, you're devaluing the term 'masterclass'.

Defensive mastery is someone who can stay in punching range and can engage whilst proving his defensiveness in this territory. Such a condition necessitates masterful defensive skill to avoid getting hit, whilst still being able to be active. Floyd Mayweather's biggest fans will appeal to the punchstats to define what defensive mastery is, they simply forgot that defensive mastery is multidimensional.
Therefore, Floyd's performance lacked a mastery.

Floyd's work against Canelo was a defensive clinic (but us purists know it's not mastery as Canelo didn't pose much offensive threat with his style, flat-footedness, overly telegraphed punching etc. so less was required of Mayweather.

Conclusion

All of that time wasted on forums getting angry in back and forths for SIX YEARS, all of that money spent on the PPV..maybe you're just calling Mayweather's showing a 'masterclass' to make you run from the guilt you feel over wasting your life.
He puts on a stinker of a fight when we were hoping to get a superfight like Hagler-Leonard, giving the fans what they want to see and deserve for the 6 year delay but Mayweather doesn't care, and you are still worshipping him. I will thus leave you with this following sentiment:
A fool parted from his money and/or time, the biggest of fools will justify it to no end.

If nothing else comes out of this, I hope a discussion on just this point will ensue. After all, we can all agree that this "super fight" left the fans wanting.

For the life of me, I'm appalled hearing some fans call this a masterclass performance by Floyd. On what freaking planet? The fact is Floyd won by virtue of landing a few more jabs and, maybe, grazing right hands, in a few more rounds. Besides that, however, Floyd clearly flouted the rules throughout: 1) by repeatedly holding and 2) ducking his head below the waist. I'll break down each point further below.

First, holding is simply against the rules. Referees, however, consistently let it go. Now, with Floyd's reflexes this gives him a huge advantage. Why? He just needs to focus on each exchange, making sure he lands the first punch, and then he can tie the opponent up. The fighters are then reset and he can rinse and repeat.

Floyd should have been warned the first time he held. The second time he should have had a point taken away. There should be a zero tolerance policy here. Where small variables can make a big difference in outcomes, this just simply should not be allowed.

Second, ducking your head below the waist is also against the rules. Yet, again, when Floyd was trapped in the corner or on the ropes, he ducked his head below Mannys waist and then spun out to safety. And as far as Im concerned, fighters should know the rules; if hes already been warned for violating any of them (say, for holding), then violating any other rule (for ducking below the waist) should result in the loss of a point.

As for Floyd's running, well, that's legal, so he can run all he wants. It's not personally what I like in fighter, but it's not technically against the rules.

Now I've heard some call for a change in rules. But there really is no need; just enforce the rules that are already there! If you had done this, you would have had a very different fight last night. I think it certainly would have been more exciting.

I don't think boxing should ignore the outpouring of boos for Floyds performance after the fight. People clearly aren't happy with this product. This is an opportunity to make the sport better and more fan friendly and the powers that be should take it. Again, we're not changing anything; we're just making sure we enforce the rules that have always been in place.

Too bad Manny is too ****ing naive to leave Arum, that guy has done nothing but exploit him, which is a shame because I believe Manny could've been a lot more if he left Arum. There's a reason why De La Hoya, Mayweather and Cotto all left him.

When has a Mayweather fight been exciting! Having said that the undercard was a farce for a $100 PPV .

Mayweather is amazing but from a casual fan point of view, he is very boring to watch.

If you ask me, I'd rather have boxing be a niche sport and have its small but dedicated following than have it be mainstream but suffer from the stupidity of the casuals. Look at the NBA and the NFL, mainstream but everyday people are saying stupid ****.

Exactly. And casuals had endless open/legal(YouTube anyone?) sources to leisurely view Mayweather's fights and styles before tuning in to this fight. He's a defensive fighter who has fought like this(and will continue to) his entire career. Like many other defensive fighters, he only opens up when it's the right time to do it or when he has his opponent troubled. People complaining about his style are idiots.

Malignaggi isn't a gratified loser either, so he's not one to speak here. Anyone with a legitimate excuse after a loss has every right to bring it up. Lies however, like the nonsensical toe comedy, are easily spotted.
