I have no problem with the decision or how the fight played out. Weather or not Pac's claim to an injured shoulder was valid I don't know, but it was his teams responsibility to handle it appropriately and they obviously didn't. Floyd shouldn't take the hit for that one.

 

The fight wasn't that bad IMO, I really thought Manny would give him hell but that wasn't the case. I feel Mayweather could have gotten him out of there if he'd gone to the body more, those shots were clearly hurting Manny.

 

a friend asked me before the fight who I thought would win, he is a big gambler and he respects my opinion. I told him If I was betting the fight I would bet Floyd fights a very defensive fight and wins a decision, as a fan I am going to allow my heart in and I am hopeful that Manny can find great condition and some of the form when he was stopping the big men, Delahoya,Margarita,Cotto,Hatton and dominating and can make some electric fly. I see now that Manny is posting pre-fight injury reports and I have no doubt that he may have had an injury but I dont think it would have made much of a difference.

I do feel however that guys especially the showtime team are always rooting for the boxer and were making the fight look more one-sided than it was. HBO are fence hoppers Kellerman and Lampley...Farhood is another one...Harold Ledderman was more accurate

The fight does not have rematch potential but Manny is trying to get another 150mm and I dont blame him

 

Pretty much my sentiment.

 

I agree the 5th and 7th rounds were the two rounds Manny let slip away when he had momentum. After that it was a clean sweep. Manny looked done, his footwork wasn't there, it wasn't for the Algeri fight either. He couldn't sustain an attack, he wasnt throwing right hands for whatever reason and he was hesistant against an opponent that he wouldn't have been several years ago.
Mayweather is horrible for the sport. He is a bad person, who puts on dull fight after dull fight. The sport couldn't have a worse ambassador. Would have been much better if Pacquaio had won for the sport but so it goes.

I like Floyd's left hook and circle out of the corner in the middle rounds that blunted Manny's ability to throw combination. Manny would stalk and look and finally corner Floyd, only to let him out after Floyd threw a left hook.

I think Floyd was given too much time to think and once he did, he picked the lock. He took no chances because had he stopped and engaged he would have put himself in line to be hit and hurt. Why give Manny that chance when isn't adapting to what Floyd is giving him.

I think it is a great performance from a fighter that is 38 years old. I am reminded of how Hopkins barely threw anything at Trinidad for almost the whole fight but controlled him by throwing a quick shot, moving and clinching

 

That is exactly how it went, Not the battle of 2 evenly matched fighters that many expected. More a master boxer vs someone who couldn't get off. The question is this if Manny can't do it and is reduced to landing less than 50 punches over 12 rounds who the hell can. Respect needs to be awarded when it is due

 

Manny had nothing. Manny looked lost. Even when he tried to rally he did not look fast or hit hard. When he pounded against Mayweather on the ropes Floyd took his shots easily. It really does make me question the impact of the mandatory blood testing.

 

I can't believe so many folks are looking for excuses for Pac. The guy was out classed, out thought, and out boxed by a master boxer, and an even greater tactician. This is after all what Mayweather ALWAYS claimed he would do if and when they fought. Believe me it wasn't luck or circumstances.

Whether Pac fans like it or not, over an 8 year period involving 4 fights he could never manage a decisive win over the counter punching Marquez. A guy that the far superior counter punching Mayweather toyed with, without using his size advantage.

Sorry but beating up immobile plums like Margarito, Clottey, and to an extent Cotto, or a face first charging in like a lunatic Hatton, has NO bearing whatsoever on fighting a ring genius like Mayweather.

Furthermore whether Pacturds like it or not Mayweather is boxing's answer to ( Brits over 40 will remember ) snooker's Steve Davies. A guy who would never take unnecessary chances.

Only a fool would expect Mayweather to go toe to toe with a guy, when there was a possibility he might lose. Particularly when he is a thousand percent sure he CAN'T lose if he keeps it to a boxing match.

 

Well he has never been " hard " to hit, that is for sure, and that has as much to do with his footwork as anything else IMO. Certainly no comparison to Mayweather's footwork, so yeah, immobile suits him just fine.

 

Mayweather judging of distance was generally very good. With a solid reach advantage he was able to counter pretty effectively. The trouble for Manny was when both fighters weren't throwing, by nature suits Mayweather. When the pace slowed many didn't have a lot to offer

Now, when someone names Cotto "immobile plum" to some extent, he tries to diminish not only Pac resume, but Floyd's too as Cotto is one of the best wins in Floyds resume
