Stephen A. Smith, during First Take, said Floyd told him post fight that he would be open to a re-match IF TR puts up the $$ (of course).

Now, would people be interested? I think people are disappointed but let's be real, the expectations were extremely high. Anything short of Hagler - Hearns, a TKO or an action packed fight would've been disappointing. What ensued saturday night was worst than anything i expected though, although, there have been many more boring fights.

I think after weeks and months go by, people would be open to a re-match. Why?

    1. Pacquiao still has the hand speed and foot work. He did hurt Floyd at least once and produced more of a scare than Maidana or canelo provided. That left hand in 4th round shook Floyd and made him lean on ropes and cover up. Pac's problem was he was too cautious at moments and had trouble chasing Floyd down.
    2. Pacquiao would employ more aggression in a re-match, guaranteeing a more exciting fight. After facing Floyd in this fight, he now knows tactics have to be different. Clearly, he tried cautious aggression in this fight but he knows he will have to be more of a risk taker next time and he won't disappoint.
    3. Stephen A. Smith had a great idea. Make the re-match in Macao, China! Manny would be more energized and it would still generate good $$. It would NOT make nearly as much as it made saturday night but still be the biggest $$ making fight
    4. Maybe shoulder injury WAS a bit of a problem and hindering manny's punching. Who knows.
    5. Who else can Floyd fight? A re-match with Cotto? come on, people are getting their panties in a bunch here, Cotto has no chance. Pacquiao at least has speed, Cotto doesn't. Pac destroyed Cotto too. Khan? people are giving Khan way too much credit. Danny Garcia destroyed Khan, how did danny look in his last fight? like ****, no? Khan has speed but he has never faced such an elusive fighter as floyd and he WILL be hitting air constantly. He also has a glass chin and the minute Floyd lands a good right, good night! Pac has more power than Khan too, which gives him a puncher's chance. Thurman? again, he would be hitting air all night and he will not look that good, i don't think so.

Floyd probably doesn't want to fight any of these young lions and let youth play a big role. He has already fought Manny and given they are both around same age, age is somewhat neutralized. Manny still has the speed and power to have a puncher's chance, IF he can get inside more often.

    i think it's likely.

No point in a rematch. PAC thinks he won so why would he do anything differently.

Pac had a injured shoulder they made above 4 mill buys for this the rematch would do lower but still reach 3 mill it makes sense

Only Pac****s would pay to see that again. I want to see floyd get beat, pacquiao isn't the guy to do that.

it makes sense for both fighters though money wise Floyd can fight khan but make only 30 mill where as if he fights Pac he will make over 100 mill for sure its a no brainer

So you don't take to account Pac had a torn shoulder and was not able to fight to his best?

loads of people would pay for the rematch it still is the biggest money fight

A rematch makes perfect sense money wise. As a fan though, I'd tap out of that one. Manny has proven over 4 fights with Marquez that he won't adjust. The outcome would be the same.

The problem is in boxing you have your shot to produce something, even if your ability/potential kyrptonite has a much higher ceiling than a poor showing, you need to earn the shot again somehow. Canelo is a supremely better fighter than Maidana yet he got whitewashed with a terrible offering and there's no talks of a rematch. Ability alone isn't enough to warrant another go around without earning it again.

I still think Pac vs May 2 would generate more money than any other fight Floyd can take.

Floyd's last fight is in September so i can see him giving Manny a second chance. Manny is great enough to deserve a second chance. Why would Cotto deserve it? Cotto was destroyed by Manny. Khan and Thurman are under 30 and Floyd will be very weary of facing them. I still think Floyd would make them look bad but Floyd knows age is an unbeatable opponent and these two guys are way too young and hungry. Manny is about the same age and he has faced him before, knows his style.

I don't think Floyd would pick any hungry young lion like Thurman or Khan and i don't see a re-match with Cotto. Floyd would probably give Pac a second chance, Pac is very disappointed and deserves a 2nd chance. Who here thinks Pac wouldn't be a lot more aggressive? he surely will, even at the risk of getting KO'd. Having said this, Pac has felt Floyd's power and is probably not very impressed, he will attack much more.

    A rematch WILL happen.

I won't be watching it, but I won't be watching any Floyd fights live again (at 5am or 6am here in the UK, not worth staying up for really.)

The fight almost certainly will not generate anywhere near as much money, but I don't think ANY fight will for a while.
Mayweather can offset some of that reduction by demanding a much higher percentage.
