I don't need you indulging me about anything.

The fact is he got through the southpaw jab with his own, opened Pac up, disallowed him to get close. :good

It was a clinic in there.

Excuse my noobiness, but you're suggesting that clinches, on average, disproportionately administered by one fighter over his opponent, happen more often in boxing than what we saw on Saturday?

Yes, absolutely. There was not a lot of clinching in Saturday's fight compared to most fights.

    I'm great pal!!

It was more engrossing than thrilling (at least until round 10) and I too had it 8-4 (I simply could not construct a compelling argument for Manny winning more than 4 rounds).

And when Manny cut loose in the fourth I remember thinking "There goes Manny with his horse hair gloves.... I bet MVC is going apoplectic right now"

Funnily enough, you and I were contributing to a thread the other day... And we both felt that Floyd's jab could be an important weapon!!!

What do you think of all the "Manny's shoulder was fcuked" talk? It seems like the rematch wheels are turning.

If you think that's a good jab then you obviously DKSAB
or you're heart throbs for maypicker. His jab isn't even
top 10 today. It's weak and says please don't progress
    forward or i'll run.

Floyd was using all of the punches he needed to in order to control the pace. He even mixed the left hook in a few times to great effect.

Hahaha ya it looks like we both our heads were right and both our hearts left upset.

I don't know what to think of the shoulder thing. If it's true then it sucks but I doubt it would have changed the fight. It looked like 2 different levels of fighter from the early rounds on. I was very disappointed how Manny came out in rounds 1-3. I hope there's never a rematch, I'd prefer to see Floyd in with Khan at this stage. I think Floyd beats Khan too but it's a more interesting fight for my money.

You have any interest in a rematch? If not, who would you like to see Floyd fight next?

That's because Floyd is a master of space and effectively kept Pac at his comfortable distance. Whenever Pac collapsed in on Floyd, which wasn't too regular, Floyd would clinch him.

Floyd's 'in-fighting' game was devoid in that fight, as far as I can remember. He instead elected to tie up, head lock, and pull Pac's head down whenever he got too close rather than fight in a phone booth, which is something that he has excelled at in past fights.

    Good craic!!

Floyd basically got tbe jab going very early.. It was a range finder, it helped Floyd set and control the pace and it was an irritant! It also ensured that Manny could not get into any offensive rhythm (and as such it was an excellent defensive weapon too).

And yes, it was a clinic.

I like Floyd's left hook and circle out of the corner in the middle rounds that blunted Manny's ability to throw combination. Manny would stalk and look and finally corner Floyd, only to let him out after Floyd threw a left hook.

I think Floyd was given too much time to think and once he did, he picked the lock. He took no chances because had he stopped and engaged he would have put himself in line to be hit and hurt. Why give Manny that chance when isn't adapting to what Floyd is giving him.

I think it is a great performance from a fighter that is 38 years old. I am reminded of how Hopkins barely threw anything at Trinidad for almost the whole fight but controlled him by throwing a quick shot, moving and clinching.

So you agree the clinching was not excessive?

I can't lie. Floyd's jab that night was a thing of beauty..

The jab wasn't to hurt Pacquaio, it was to disrupt his rhythm. Every time Pac was going to attack, Floyd would hit him with that meaty jab, either to the body or face and Pac would hesitate. Pac would either try to counter the jab, which left him open for that right hand, stand still and be hit by another jab, or goofily lunge forward at May only to be clinched, spun around and hit with straight accurate punches.

I don't know why Pac tried to out think Floyd. Instead of blaming Floyd, people should blame Pac for bot being skilled enough to adapt and compete vs May.
