The 4th round is the only clear round for pacman, maybe round 6 and round 2 if your generous. It was a total domination on Floyd's part.

@gboxingfeed how did you have pac winning rd3?

Is it because he put forth more of an effort than he did in rd2, or did he do something more noteworthy than mayweather?

    I'm curious.

The third round was very close, but I felt on the night that Pacquaio edged it, and on re-watching it today I still felt the same way. The fact that he upped his aggression in that round, whereas Floyd did much the same as he did in the first two rounds meant that to my eyes, Pacquiao seemed to be doing more and forcing the pace. It's totally subjective though.
I assume you had Mayweather winning it? It actually helps illustrate my point as to how difficult it was to pick a winner in the bulk of the rounds - hardly an "ass whooping".

    I gave Manny 4,6 and 8.

    Floyd was a clear winner.

He was the clear winner...BUT was the he the CLEAR winner of every round that he took? I think that many of them were close to call.

Too me it came off much like a sparring session. I think both men focused on defense, trying to outsmart each other, and threw very few punches. It was a chess match. Even Mayweather landed at a very low percent (34%) and neither man was really in trouble. Yes many of the rounds were close and competitive, the fight was not in that Mayweather won many more rounds.

People expected Manny to throw a ton of punches and do special things, but he boxed Mayweather. Therefore, it made it look like an easy work fight since Pac was not doing what we expected nor wanted.

Not the case. Like it's said, Floyd knows how to win rounds that he's really losing.

Credit it to him, he won unequivocally however the fight was competitive. I mean, Pacquiao BOXED Mayweather a lot especially the first half and when have we ever seen someone be that competitive boxing Floyd? Has anyone ever boxed Floyd as good as Pac did? People forget Pacquiao can box and him choosing to do so put him at a disadvantage scoring wise.

If Pacquiao pressed the action two last rounds, that fight could've been a draw.

I think Manny didn't 'choose' to box Mayweather - Floyd forces people to fight his fight due to his uncompromisingly passive style - which is part of his genius of course. Negating Pac in this way was why Floyd appeared to be winning very close rounds without doing that much IMO. But I agree that Pac fought better than he is getting redit for, as he was fighting competitively in a style that he is not accustomed to.

I also agree with the poster that said it was 2 boxers who were afraid to lose, rather than trying to win. It did seem that way.

It was far closer than most make it out to be, I had the same assessment when watching it the first time, then again I know how to score matches when most don't. it was 8-4 maybe 7-5 the first time and the second time I watched it.

Which is why I want a rematch. Now they both have the experience, a lot less pressure, and actually a comfortable amount of time to train. I think we would see a MUCH better performance from BOTH fighters. Therefore, a better fight.

I think, were it not for the lopsidedly generous 118-110 card, that there may have been calls for a rematch - though it wasn't a fight for the casuals unfortunately, so that may cause a backlash. For boxing fans, I actually found it to be an exhilarating fight....which a 'one sided ass whooping' certainly wouldn't feel like!
