Are you f*cking kidding me? a 160 LB version of DLH, which was NEVER DLH's best weight class, who was clearly near the end of his career, is somehow a better win than Jones' top wins? DLH and Trinidad are both smaller men coming up to MW, yet you are somehow gonna tell me that those wins are comparable to Toney, Hill, and Griffin? Nope. RJJ has the better top wins and a deeper resume. I already named all of the various punchers and technicians that RJJ dealt with. We'll have to agree to disagree then. given what Hopkins was able to do immediately after the first Jones' fight it clearly is a significant and very good win. but whatever.
Greta job ignoring everything I said in that post, as is normal with Jones fans you are clearly in denial. Ruiz was a fringe contender at best without all of the cheating, corrupt judges, and Don King. The knockdown on Holyfield means nothing, even with all of the cheating he should have AT LEAST lost 2 out of 3 fights. He should have been DQ'd for excessive fouling, which makes even the worst Klitschko clinch fest(I'm a big fan, but he clinches too much I admit) tolerable in comparison. Ruiz is an absolute disgrace to the sport, and in a sane world with proper reffing, and judging he would be 0-3 against Holyfield. Hell in a sane world there wouldn't have been more than 1 fight because Holyfield did more than enough to beat that fraud in the first fight, and with a proper ref it would have been even more onesided and decisive.
Whatever I don't really want to argue about Ruiz, I know he was a good fighter, regardless of his fouling or clinching which I wasn't a fan of. If you hurt and floor Holyfield, then that's something right there. You can't tell me that it's meaningless when few men have achieved it. I will say that Ruiz benefited from the HW era that he was in, with the alphabet titles and multiple champs.
As talented as Jones was I always have that nag he tested positive for steroids in the back of my mind so I have a problem giving him full credit for his achievements.
lets be real here. Bhop deserved nothing close to 50/50 split. He priced himself out of that match. 60/40 I kick your ass
People say Roy was only reflexes and speed, and that he didn't have great skill or technique. That's wrong. I'm currently watching the first Tarver fight, and saw Roy make adjustments in the third round, after losing (IMO, anyway) the first two rounds. That shows a good ring IQ. Why am I using this particular fight, you may ask? Because Roy was coming down from HW, lost a lot of weight, and his speed and reflexes were faded by then.
:deal According to this guy though, requiring a larger percentage of the purse is somehow considered a duck. please. Bhop would've gotten his a$$ schooled again.
Never seen anyone as good as floyd in his prime he had no weakness he really did go 49-0 essentially and should have retired
Shut your sh*it hole, you gormless chin checker. Of course it means something for a MW champion who had boxed professionally at 154, to beat a HW (Evander's daddy) regardless of whether or not he was the linear title holder. And his shutout victory over Toney ranks as one of the great wins anybody has raked up in the last quarter century. Combine that with his absolute dominance in rounds win/lost over all his opposition till his mid thirties and you have to conclude he was one of the best ever.
Check out Hopkins ' win over Roy Ritchie... It's a fight that happened immediately after the loss to RJJ, and he looks like a well seasoned professional in this fight, with great combo punching, accuracy and technique.. I mean, damn!
