At his best prior to declining and being KO'd multiple times he was the best I have ever seen (Including FMJ and Leonard). If Roy had retired directly after Ruiz,no one would debate whether or not he was better than the two I mentioned above, he was that amazing. Unfortunately fans are fickle and always revert to the what have you done for me lately attitude. His losses tarnished his legacy to many...not me though.
Pound for pound the best of all time. There isn't a boxer in history that could have beaten a prime Roy.
I'm a fan of Wlad and he has distinguished himself the HW division in ONE of the areas I mentioned regarding Roy, dominance of his opponents. Roy has done that as well as dominating several weight classes and reaching his mid thirties undefeated, and therefore ranks high amongst all boxers, not just one division.
How can you people forget what a complete jerk that guy was. Extorting HbO for multimillion dollar paydays against nobodies. Always demanding the Lion's share of the purses and expecting several other concessions that killed several interesting fights he could have made. I still laugh at how he turned into one of the sports biggest jokes. Could not have happened to a nicer guy. I also distinctly recall all the hate he used to throw toward the Klitschko brothers because he was a small minded jealous bigot at heart.
Roy jones was awesome during his prime. He shouldn't of went to heavyweight knowing he couldn't beat the best at that weight in Lennox Lewis & then he shouldn't of went down so much in weight to fight Tarver. Since then, Roy has never been the same.
Insecure Britturds are about to hijack this thread. Jones was pfp king for ten years. That tells you all you need to know about his talent.
