Well, I started watching boxing when Hagler, Hearns and those guys were in their primes.

It's not even the same sport nowadays.

Mayweather gets paid about 20x more than them, and provides none of the entertainment.

This is the "social media" age, and I guess to the younger generation, the actual quality of the fights don't matter as much as the build up and soap opera aspects that occur in the months and years surrounding the "event".

Looking at the weigh in, people were paying $500 or $800 to tickets touts to attend that, which seems strange, but really it was almost as much action as the "fight" the following night.

Pacquiao's excuses came as a bit of a surprise at first, but I guess fighters have always done that.

I wasn't expecting anything. The fact is that I am still very disappointed.

Firstly, i am disappointed that I paid $100 but my PAID feed went out prior to the main event and didn't come back on until after the fight started. (to which I got a full refund by my cable company) That was the first straw.

Then I saw a lackluster fight filled with Floyd running.

Then, all this stuff about injury comes out, and yeah I am guy who had NO EXPECTATIONS, had no idea what would happen and still ended up every disappointed. That's really bad!!

This thread claims that TBE's legacy is ruined for 117-111'ing the guy that almost everyone out there had as #2 Welterweight and #2 Pound for Pound...

    Cool story. Will read again.

This is one of those things were they need to protect a fighter. If you get ko'd it's a automatic 60 day medical suspension from fighting. So to lie on the medical may seem like a little white lie to save the fight, they maynot look at it like that. With all the crying it was my shoulder this is karma coming at them. Should take the lose like a man and not make so much noise about every excuse as to why he lost.

I think it's funny when the commissions take the moral high ground in situations like this.

We hear a lot about scandals in sports. Many stories the media makes into scandals that aren't scandals.

But if this is in fact true, this is an actual scandal. Who is this mole? If this is true, that mole has every right to have his life ruined.

Note: and by the way, if TBE had anything to do with it, wow is all I gotta say.

    FightHype reported a mole.

Leonard Ellerbe said that he knew EVERYTHING that was going on in Pac's camp and even said that they were having a terrible camp.

"We have an MRI scan that confirms he has a rotator cuff tear. He has a significant tear," said ElAttrache, who was still with Pacquiao at his Kerlan Jobe Orthopedic Clinic office in Los Angeles when he spoke to ESPN.com

"Once you know he has a tear that's not going to heal on its own, then the decision for an active person is you want to try to fix this before it gets bigger," ElAttrache said. "If all goes as expected with the surgery and the rehab is successful, Manny could be back training in about six months. At that point, he will be regaining strength and endurance, and competition is reasonable within nine months to a year. But this is a severe enough tear that it won't heal without being repaired."

No matter how you view it Pac cheated the fans horribly here if all this is even remotely true and if not he got schooled regardless.
Either way its ironic that he is the one that comes out of all this looking a little...

    This.

Too many casual observers of the sport complain about boring fights today and few of them truly respect the art of boxing.

This sport has always been riddled with nostalgia about "good ol' days" when it was supposedly all great and attractive and everybody watched it. I don't think May and Pac will get their dues until they retire from the sport.
