Thanks Super Hans. Interestingly enough, as I saw the fight, Pac's best rounds came in more towards the middle of the fight, which is definitely not something I was expecting. Almost as if Pac started adjusting a bit around the time I suspected Floyd would be adjusting to him. I thought Pacquiao looked bad, but I thought Floyd looked better than he had since the Canelo fight. But if you look back at what these guys were doing in 2009, I think Floyd was much closer to form than Pac in that context.
Yeah, after the first 3 rounds, I thought the only rounds Pacquiao would have a chance of winning would be maybe toward the end when Mayweather has an unreachable lead and just runs round to prevent any late drama. So I was reasonably impressed that he clearly won the 4th and 6th. I also gave him the 9th and 10th (both close), as did two of the judges, so he had a chance of a draw if Mayweather lost the last two rounds.
Sorry but Pacquiao signed legally binding paperwork pre-fight saying he wasn't injured. If he injured himself in the fight that's one thing but to claim an injury going in yet put your name to a medical certificate that states otherwise smacks of sour g****s. This whole thing smells of BS and fishing for a rematch (from both parties). Floyd looked so much better than Pacquiao winning at least nine rounds and a cash grab rematch is really not needed.
Yeah, I didn't think Pac was going to do anything except edge out a round towards the end after that opening stanza. So I was surprised when Pac got to him in the 4th, and thought it might turn into a fight yet. Then Floyd came back very strong in the 5th, before laying off the gas a bit in the 6th. I'm still baffled by the fact that Pac's feet were utter garbage and that Floyd's were so impeccable.
I wonder what would happen if they do have a rematch. Surely they won't be r aping people for $100 should that happen? Or is that the new PPV norm? :think
I guess my point is Floyd chose to unload on Hatton and Guerrero in the 8th. He clearly had it in him and could have done it in any round before then after feeling them out. He did the same thing with Pac in the beginning of the 11th. Regardless of the short comings of the competition, if Floyd gives Guerrero 3 or 4 rounds like round 8, the discussion moves to stoppage. Floyd is always watching his and his opponents stamina. He doesn't like to go completely empty and he loves to push hard when his opponent is wearing down.
I get what you're saying. Mosley was another guy, where, if Floyd turned it up, we could have been talking stoppage.
Still not sure I'm buying it. It didn't really look like he suffered a major injury when throwing the punch, and I still don't remember him favoring it, complaining about it, or being asked about it in between rounds. I think, even if there is a legit injury of some sort, Pac's Camp is pathetically trying to save face in hopes they can land an undeserved (and unnecessary) rematch.
I scored the fight exactly the same. However, fringe nut jobs scoring it for Pac Man= about 90 percent of Pac fanatics. I don't think Floyd was stunned at all in the 4th but Pac obviously got his attention with a punch. As far as Pac Man stopping the attack it may simply be age and not being able to pull the trigger the same way he used to. I never believed the BS from Roach and he that he would be more aggressive like he was years ago. Those days are long gone.
