Arum blasts khan/talks up kell brook

He wont get the mayweather fight as here in america he is considered a a glass jawed no one. If he were to beat a thurman, bradley or maidana again it would have really boosted his chances especially after beating alexander easily but instead hes gone backwards and is fighting algieri. I enjoy amir fights and he is fun to watch but since moving to ww he seems to avoid any punchers even though a win would boost his stock state side. Thurmans in his last two fights has very beatable. Not saying amir could beat him but he def has a chance, as for floyd khan wont beat him he will be countered all night, fmj is not a power puncher but no one walks through his rights either.

 

Wayne I agree with most of that, Khan has to beat a bigger name at WW than Collazo.
It has to be a Thurman, Bradley or even a Brook or Porter, thing is I'd actually favour Khan against Bradley and Porter, Brook I think would be tough and obviously Khan does too or he would have taken the money, belt and Brooks 0 and laughed in his face and I think Thurman punches Khan in to next year.

I do not think Khan should get Mayweather, Khan has a negative reputation in the U.S. and after turning down Brook his reputation here in the UK isn't great.

We will see, Khan says he wouldn't do Septemeber against Mayweather because it would be too soon after Ramadan so it would have to be May 2016, so he would have to fight again late in the year and again the opponent will be scrutinised. surely it would have to be a genuine top 10 WW.

 

There we go. Khan thinks hes big fish when everyone around him thinks different. Its quite funny.

The problem is, this plethora of new accounts seem oblivious to the facts and appear unwiling to consider them.

If Khan was willing to fight any welterweight, why does he choose to avoid all serious contenders (and a champion) in the hope of fighting Mayweather?

The only problem with your post Wayne is that it contains far too much sense for Khan's deluded and rabid fans to consider.

 

If Uncle Bob says you are nothing ("And I do mean nothing") in the US, then your chances of fighting Floyd cannot be considered great.

You know what N17, I too think that Khan could give all of the top contenders a good fight and he may well beat some of them (he's got no chance against Floyd though). But evidently his camp doesn't share our confidence!!

The bottom line is, Amir is trying to backdoor his way to a Mayweather fight... And any boxing fan should hate such an abject tatic!!

Maybe when Floyd retires they will be compelled to put Amir in meaningful fights at WW.

I think khan beats bradley and porter and vs thurman for me is 50/50 if he stays very very diciplined. He is always one punch away from disaster but thats what makes him a must see. He could beat most top ww on his day but also lose a few

All of the above are very possible... which is why most sensible boxing fans just wish that Amir would fight one of them.

 

I remember going to Bolton to watch Mick Jennings, who was fighting on Khan's undercard (it was when Choi tko4 Derry Matthews. Derry was a 1/9 favourite, but Choi had been training at Brian Hughes' gym and all the lads were raving about how hard Choi hit... So we backed Choi to win via ko/tko).

Mick won his fight comfortably and we waited for him (expecting him to stay and watch Khan). I was amazed when Mick said "Fcuk Khan, the arrogant little wan ker!! All the pros hate him!!" And left for home.

Considering how out of character it was (Mick is an absolute gent who has regularly travelled to the North East just to present trophies at amateur shows... and not take anything by way of payment) I decided to ask him about it when we were on the drink that night (btw Preston is a great night out).

Mick's take on it was basically that Amir had been handed everything on a silver platter and already considered himself a guaranteed future ATG (yes, back in 2008.) as such his arrogance and sense of entitlement turned loads of people against him.

I did rather mischievously suggest to Mick that perhaps he was a little envious of Amir (and Jennings did smile and agree that maybe he was just a little). He also prophesied "He'll get worse mate.. Just wait and see".

How right he was!!

 

Brook has put himself in the better position to get the big fights, may turn out that Amir has to fight Kell if he wants a big fight in the WW division in the next few years!!

 

If Amir doesn't get a Mayweather or Pacquiao fight, a fight with Brook is undoubtedly the biggest payday available to him.

 

IMO Brook is ahead of him in the line to get those type of fights now though, especially in regards to Floyd as he's more likely going to want a fight to unify the Division than a fight with Amir Khan atm!!
