Walcott was NOT a great fighter when Fox beat him, he was 22-5-2 when he lost to Fox and had lost his last fight to Steve Ketchel.

Now address the other threads !
    Distinguished career?
NB. Fox was involved in 3 no contests , had his purse confiscated
and both participants in a couple of those affairs were thrown out for not trying..
You always seem keen to tar Joe Louis with the brush of being mob managed, well Fox was managed by Frank Blinky Palermo heard of him?

This entire thread is really a bunch of ****. If it were not for WW2 everyone and their brother would have probably fought Louis. We would be talking of Louis defending his title 35 times instead of 25.

From 1937 to the end of his career in the late 40's Fox fought three opponents who also fought and were koed by Louis. Two of the three beat Fox. Only Walcott lost to Fox but at a time where Joe was not on the hwt radar. Looking at his record it's all filled with lt heavyweights and very few hwts. He was an excellent fighter but that does not mean Louis ducked him. Really silly to even think so. Fox was koed easily by John Henry Louis. He did not have the durability to handle a one punch Ko artist like Joe Louis fighting in the style he fought.

The purpose of the thread is to expose Mendoza's agenda against Louis and I think it has been successful.:good

No, absolutely not. His resume at HW in absolutely no sense demands it and he was at no time the LHW champion of the world. If he had been champ, I think there's a good case but he never was. It was bad luck that he never was but he never was.

The more I'm digging the more "anomalies" about some of these guys are turning up.
Clarence Henry involved in "curious "fights
    Tiger Jack Fox ditto .

Common denominator manager Frank Blinky Palermo:think

    Dan Bucceroni v Roland Lastarza 21st Dec1951
Bucceroni wins U Dec badly hurting Lastarza in the 2nd rd big upset as Lastarza was a 1-4 fav
Five months later Lastarza uses Bucceroni as a punching bag flooring him 5 times to take an easy decision.
I'm not saying it wasn't Kosher,Im just observing Bucceroni's manager was also Blinky Palermo.:think

You can't even write down correctly when Fox was active.

    Once again :lol::lol::lol:

I asked you point blank if Fox was better than several of Louis opponents. You can't answer the question. :deal Checkmate.

This is what happened when Fox challenged JohnHenry Lewis for the LHVy title .

    This content is protected

3rd ko Fox had top be carried back to his corner.

Lewis lasted less than a round with Louis.
ps Lewis kod Elmer ray in 12 rds 8 months before Louis nearly decapitated him inside ONE ROUND!

Um, John Henry Lewis was in bad shape.

This was John Henry Lewis' final fight and his only knockout loss. He retired at age 25!

Joe and John Henry were good friends. Lewis was almost blind in one eye and his eyesight was deteriorating. Louis gave his friend the title fight so he could have one big payday before the eye problem forced him to retire. In this case Fox would have been a better opponent. No debate here.

Problem is Fox did nothing to deserve a title shot. Lewis was lt heavy champion. Fox was a lt heavy contender.

There was more talk about Al Gainer fighting Louis than Fox. And that idea was scr@pped pretty quickly.

Sorry I was thinking of John Henry Lewis and I confused the 2. As far as Louis he fought the best of his times and the guys that beat the ones he did not fight. I dont think you could ask for more....25 defenses

You can make just as good a case that Louis avoided Bettina (who knocked out Fox) as you can that he avoided Fox.

Let's not confuse issues. There is no doubt that old timers thought highly of Tiger Jack Fox but never as a hwt. He did nothing to deserve a title shot for Louis's title. IF he had beaten Lewis for the Lt heavyweight title then perhaps he may have gotten a hwt title shot but even that may not have happened unless he would have begun to campaign as a hwt. Actually more than likely he would not have been given a title shot just because he was lt hwt champion unless their was unusual public clamour for the fight to occur.
