What are your thoughts on him? What if he hadn't been in that accident?

He needed work on his defense and using his reach but he was a tough fight for almost anyone just by how many punches he threw beat Margarito at his own game and made Cintron leap frog out of the ring. Seemed like a good guy outside the ring too it sucks he got in that accident he was a exciting fighter.

There was really no reason for him to have the style he had. He should have learned to fight tall and use his reach, work behind his jab.

I agree thought he should of got the late Steward or Roach to train him.

If he had tightened up his defense and fought tall, he could have dominated the division. He could have been like a modern Thomas Hearns, or a smaller Wladimir Klitschko.

Not sure about that he didn't have the power of a Hearns or Klitschko but then again he never hit opponets at the end of his punches using his reach like lanky fighters are supposed to do to get the most out of there power and reach, the one time he did was in the Quintana rematch which was a devastating KO.

Then again, maybe he wouldn't have been that great as a pure boxer. He got outboxed by Quintana, Lara, and Martinez.

He actually looked like he was getting a little sloppy at the tail end of his career before that unfortunate motorcycle accident.

Martinez beat him twice (regardless of what the first decision was,) second time definitely took something out of him when he was brutally KO'd. I also remember him losing pretty clearly to Lara as well, and a few fights back even QUintana was able to outbox him in their first fight.

He was a solid fighter based on his size and the volume of his punches which were freakishly high, but I felt that he was quickly falling out of his prime at the very end of his career. Sloppy with his combination punching and very susceptible to getting countered by a boxer with good ability.

I'd say he was a little limited won most of his fights due to volume punching alone, dont think he ever would of been a world beater or elite, better than a gatekeeper though, maybe a veteran that occasionally took some 0's?

He didn't have anywhere the power Hearns had, but had he used skill and natural gifts (and kept his focus, which he had clearly lost in his first fight with Quintana) he would have been a serious handful for most at 147-154.

Lots of people who have met him say what a great bloke he is... It really is sh!t what happened to him!!!

I often considered a lack of focus to be a tough foe for Paul to conquer on occasion... The first Quintana fight was a prime example of PW being frustratingly lackadaisical.

Maybe his attitude was the reason why he appeared to have such a swift decline? And the older he got, the more difficult it became for him to overcome.

I wish him the very best.

Williams was a fun fighter to watch. Not necessarily the most skilled or smart fighter. His defense was leaky as hell, and he beat a lot of opponents by outworking them, not knowing how to properly use his insane height and wingspan to his advantage. He was also a tough fighter, he took a good shot, which made the Martinez KO surprising.

Toward the end of his career, he had one fight and his post-fight interview was a little worrying. Maybe it was just because it was the end of a long fight, but his speech seemed slurred, different than what it had been.

I wish we had seen the fights with Pavlik or Alvarez go through.

Watching some videos and reading articles, Williams has a sense of humor about his paralysis and seems to be handling such a horrible accident very well. I'm glad that's the case

His best days were long behind him when he crashed his motorcycle, unfortunately.

Great and entertaining fights he was in...

Still would have loved to see Alvarez vs. Williams instead of Josesito. Can't believe it all happened like two days after he signed that contract.

I think he was already on the downturn of his career, was in for some bad losses next, and as tragic as that accident was it possibly saved him from some severe brain damage over the course of the coming decade.

He is doing seemingly as well as someone could in his position, there is a real possibility that he can walk again (crazy enough, the progress he could have been making on that is being hampered by his lack of participating in his physical rehab) But hes a complete inspiration with how he has tackled this adversity and is mastering it the best he can. He does motivational speeches, and has started a foundation

Check his foundation out, hes got some shirts to buy to help support him.
