I thought you said you prefer not to get in a Floyd vs Manny discussion?

When Duran turned pro at the age of 16 he did weigh less than 126.

I know, but he was never a titleholder until he moved up to lightweight.

Well I see it two ways. The same time line, perhaps not, but if it's all within a 4-5 year time line, then yes. Duran was 72-1 prior to turning 30.

How is that a Floyd vs Manny discussion? It's about what would give Duran the most trouble in response to your original post asking if Duran or Floyd would go through Pac's resume.

What you appear to be getting hung up on is the comparison of the resumes as a whole. Since I have already stated that I believe the best version of Duran (given for the sake of argument that he could make 126, let alone 130) walks through either man's complete resume in style. But if we go with the assumption that Duran could make 126 and 130 then I believe the 2 fights that give him the most trouble are JMM and EM from their first fights with Manny. It has nothing to do with Floyd vs Manny, it is about what would give Duran the most trouble. Do you believe there is a better option that either man has fought who would give more trouble to a prime and in shape Duran?

18 years in ( 1986 ) Duran was having his 84th, 85th, and 86th fights. Iceland would thaw before Mayweather would ever dream of having that many fights. Not enough B, and C class fighters to cherry pick I'm afraid.

72-1 until he was 30 that's how long. His inconsistency was when he was past prime, but even then he could bring magic into the ring like he did against Palomino, Moore, Hagler, and Barkley.

Though I don't think the Palomino fight fits in with the rest. It was before the inconsistency set in.

You are quite right. However he racked up 28 wins before Buchanan, with 25 stoppages.

How did Pac get on in his first 26 fights? Oh yeah. Flyweight champion, and knocked out twice.

Fair enough. I remember Steve Farhood, being totally amazed about this fight. He said Palomino was one of his favorite fighters and a near ATG with a brutal body attack, and Duran beat the **** out of him like he was an amateur instead of the former WBC welterweight champion.

At the end Palomino was twitching and trying not to get hit as Duran was throwing a lot of feints.

I'm just answering your questions. I don't agree that JMM and EM are the best version of any fighter that Floyd or Manny has ever faced, because I don't define "best" by the level of difficulty these guys gave either Pacquiao or Floyd at the time they fought them. I'm judging best by prime/how close to prime the fighter was. Styles make fights, so outcomes vary per depending on the opponent.

JMM was in his prime I suppose, so I'll give you him, but Morales was not. Corrales was in his prime at the time he fought Floyd and Alvarez was on the verge. The whole discussion is kind of difficult because then the question is "which Duran". If you are only talking about Duran at one particular point in time, then it's hard to make any legit comparison.
