The entire fight rests on who establishes their jab. Prime Holmes had one heck of a jab. Not nearly as quick as Ali's but IMO harder. I remember Holmes knocking down Ozzie Ocasio with a single jab. Holmes did not have the grace or speed of foot of Ali but when he needed to he could move. Lewis also had a good long jab and he would double up on it when he liked. Lewis had the definite edge in power with both hands over Larry. Who wins? Prime Holmes would move to his left away from the Lewis job and land his own. I believe Holmes wins the jab battle here and with it he wins more rounds. In close Larry cleverly ties up Lewis. IMO it boils down to whether Lewis can land a haymaker right hand (which Holmes was open for) to end the fight before the last bell sounds. I don't believe he does. Holmes W15 where he is hurt several times but weathers the storms to win by a 9-6, 8-7 type score.
I like Lennox right hand bomb and I think he ends it before 5, if not he will be in trouble late but I think he gets Larry out of there before 5
That was the punch to always catch Larry with. Problem was that in his prime no one could get around that jab. Every now and then someone would (Shavers etc) but not consistently enough to produce a win. Lewis would need more than one blow to finish Larry.... He had good whiskers.
Holmes faced huge punchers like Shavers and ****ey and clearly showed that he can take a punch. Lewis can hurt him but won't be able to knock him out. Larry has a great right hand too and he will hurt Lewis more than Lewis hurt him. I think larry will win a close decision.
Lennox Lewis. Larry Holmes wouldn't be able to beat Sonny liston and Lewis is basically another Liston because of the same arm reach and hand size.
Larry had a super chin, recovery abilities and ring intelligence in comparison to Lewis. Lewis right hand will not be a factor, but Lewis was the one with the poor chin so he is the one out of the two who can least afford to make a mistake.
Lennox Lewis, because I think the chin argument is weak and pathetic. Larry was hardly a knock out artist.
Tyson is the only fighter in History to have knocked Larry out. What makes you think Lewis can do it? In fact i believe Larry had more speed in his arms and legs compared to Lennox and just enough Strength to keep him honest. And Larry has proven he can take a heck of a punch and the Shavers fight proves his toughness and heart.
holmes from 80 to 82 with ease / the jab and the movement would off set everything big lumbering lennox could do to set up the big right hand ...if you think about it a 42 yr old in larry holmes beat the **** outta mercer better then a prime lennox did .......larry holmes very under rated ...
Lewis could brawl it out, and i think he can stop holmes. otherwise he would get ud'd lewis is far more dangerous than norton and shavers, and ****ey. different levels.
and larry holmes in his prime was a lot more dangerous then michael grant / david tua/hasim rahman/37 yr old holyfield /.....on so many levels ...:deal
