Geale apparently weighed only 158lbs at the mandatory 30 day weighin for their WBC clash next month. Only a mere 1lbs higher as the contracted 157 catch weight. Cotto wasn't very heavy too, but around what could be expected from a relatively small sized MW and came in at 164.8... If the concern was if Geale could make the weight without too much trouble, then that fear is gone now, but this looks like he's overdoing things. Maybe he doesn't want to worry about his weight in the trainingcamp leading up to the fight and that's the reason he shed the weight that early?!
Geale schools Cottto with ease, I'm not the slightest bit worried now, because of this little nugget of info.:hey
This obviously leaves a good opportunity for Geale, winning or losing. If he can make the weight that easily, he might drop down to the weaker LMW division, becoming a 2 weight champ in the future.
Great news for Geale. And i'm surprised seeing people agree with Geale winning this fight, I thought I was the only one. Geale has a great shot at pulling the upset on this. If the odds are good enough, I may bet on this fight.
Geale is ****ty. A shot damaged goods midget WW Cotto easily handles that. Too bad there's no avatars here, otherwise I'd put up an avatar bet.
You are aware that Cotto who managed to drop a gimp hobbled crippled former shell of Sergio Martinez 4 times still didn't KO him Right???? The corner threw the towel in. Geale is a very very mobile fighter who has 2 good legs kind of like Austin Trout, Cotto ain't knocking anybody out. Don't let the GGG KO fool you Geale has a pretty chin.
When aussies step up in class, they usually end up getting there chin shattered. geale is alright, but cotto is much better. Cotto KO!
Every time Cotto steps up in class he gets outclassed, I'm not sure Cotto could beat Barker or Sturm, in fact I doubt he could, and I'm not just saying this as a Cotto hater, Geale is very underrated on this forum, he was actually doing very well against GGG in-between being dropped by him, and he doesn't have someone as good as Golovkin in cutting off the ring in Cotto and Cotto doesn't punch nearly as hard as GGG. Geale will UD him.
always a great event to look forward to when the RING Magazine and recognized middleweight champion of the world waits an entire year to defend his title and its against a guy who lost 2 out of his last 4. YIPPIE
I'm not surprised Geale is 158, he has always looked to carry a little bit extra. I think Cotto knocks him out though. I used to be a big Geale fan, but he shown against GGG that he has no heart, I think Cotto stops him between 6-8.
