I have watched the fight together with 3 friends, all of us boxing experts, and all of us scoring the fight round by round. We're neither US citizens or Filipinos, and neither fans of Pacquiao or Floyd either. 3 of us (including me) had Pacquiao winning it by the slightest of margins (1 single point, with 1 round even), and one had Mayweather ahead by 1 round. It was certainly a difficult fight to score because there were many close rounds, I guess this is a fight that could have gone either way, depending on how you score fights. The official scorecards were ridiculous - the only explanation for these cards can be that all the close rounds were automatically scored for Mayweather. Still, 118-110 seems biased.

But I can see very well why a lot of people scored it for Mayweather. This was clearly a 'Mayweather' fight, and not a Pacquiao type of fight. Mayweather imposed his style of fighting, he was in total control for large stretches of the fight and he kept it in the middle of the ring for the most part. There is, however, one important factor that takes away a lot from his performance: he totally neglected his offense. His defense was as effective as it possibly could be (it wasn't brilliant though, a lot of his defense consisted of holding and running, but it was undeniably effective), but where was the offense? I have never seen such a low punch output from Mayweather. You could clearly see that he was hesitant to throw, he was nervous (that's also why he wasn't as accurate as he used to when throwing), and, in lack of a better word, he was 'scared'. He was afraid to get countered by Pacquiao, whose handspeed matched his own. And at the same time, Mayweather didn't counter himself, like he usually does - the few punches he landed clearly were nearly all jabs and right hand leads. Boxing is about 'hit without getting hit', and Mayweather neglected the first in favour of the latter. How can you win rounds without throwing punches? An argument can be made that Mayweather won the fight based on his ring generalship though. On a side-note, Floyds legs looked fine and he definitely had the edge when it comes to foot-speed (especially when moving away from Pac).

Pacquiaos performance was very disappointing. Be it because of a shoulder injury or because he simply has slipped too much these last years, this was only a shadow of the Pacquaio of 5 years ago... he was never able to take control of the fight, he only had moments. You could clearly see that he tried, but his efforts were nullified by Mayweather (unfortunately too often by holding). At the end of the day however, Pacquiao didn't get hit much, simply because Mayweather didn't throw punches. And that is an important point. None of the two landed many clean shots, but I thought that Pacquiao still outworked and outhustled Mayweather in some rounds. Pacquiaos aggression wasn't effective, but when you've got two fighters who don't land punches, for whatever reason, the round should be scored in favour of the fighter who 'did more work', meaning who threw more. And in many rounds, that fighter was Pacquiao. Of course Pacquiao should still have done more, but maybe he did just enough to deserve the nod, or a draw.

I feel that, even though he officially won, Mayweather gave this fight away in a sense. I believe he showed that he is the better fighter, at any rate he is the much fresher fighter, and he could have won this in a dominant fashion - if he only wanted to. As it stands, he showed Pacquiao way too much respect and solely concentrated on his defense, bordering on going into survival mode at times. And there lies an argument why Pacquiao might have deserved the nod by a tiny little bit, despite an overall poor performance.

I have rewatched the HBO and Sky broadcasts and, rather than post my scorecard, I just want to say I thought both fighters put on a poor "fight of the century". Pac looked terrible and literally didn't even have a gun (let alone try to pull the trigger). Mayweather did his usual bare minimum to safely win the fight with no drama.
It was a huge disappointment (for the record I told my friends beforehand it would be 118 to 110 or around that to Mayweather. The judge who scored this wasn't too far off the mark).

Pacquiao was awful. Floyd did what he had to do. Fight was uneventful. Total let-down.

best case scenario I can come up with is Pacquiao losing 9-3. 10-2 is more accurate. He didn't throw or land enough punches to give him rounds. It is a very easy fight to score if you are objective. You can't win a fight on a Decision when you only land 81 punches. That isn't even 7 punches a round :rofl

Commentators do colour things, However I had a hard time scoring alot of rounds simple because the alot of the of the close rounds, the camera angles didn't give you much chance at times to see if anything was landing that can easily affect the scoring.

I do wonder about comubox sometimes but if that is accurate (it's not always easy to tell) it's pretty clear Mayweather won the Boxing match.

I'd of put quite a few rounds down as draw.

I can see what Manny was saying post fight too. Manny was throwing the harder more aggressive stuff that may carry weight in a Fight, But this is the sport of Boxing. Unless you can knock the other guy out, it doesn't matter how hard Mayweather was punching, they still landed even if they weren't hurtful more than Manny did.

Manny's best rounds were the fourth, sixth and and ninth rounds.

Rounds Ten and Twelve I could see scores either way.

It was interesting noting that Lederman and Rafael both gave Floyd the ninth round which I had as Pacquaio all the way.

If I gave Pacquaio rounds that were close, I had it 115-113. If I marked the rounds as I'd normally mark them, I had it 117-111. I don't see how 118-110 was scored.

Which again brings me back to the point that Pacquaio's best rounds were four (apparently after he'd done his shoulder), then six, nine and ten. Leads me to question how much effect the injury really had.

I gave Pacquiao rounds 4, 6, and 7. 1-3, 5, 11, are clear Mayweather rounds. The others are pretty close.

Trolling aside. Who knows. So many millions involved, so many lies from both camps for years. I don't believe anything from either camp. Could have been a bad injury or a sore shoulder from jerking off the day before.

Hope he makes a full recovery. I question how severe it was, but whatever.

When I think of a significant rotator cuff injury, I think of Berto vs Soto Karass. See how Berto keeps his right arm down by his waist after the 2nd round. He didn't throw with that hand for the rest of the fight, he could barely keep it up to defend/block shots coming at him.

There's different levels to muscle tears so I'm just assuming Berto's was much worse than Manny's based on in ring performances.

He beat Pacquiao so bad none of my boxing friends who were picking Pac even want to talk to me They still need time they need more time to process what happened and it sucks cause I want talk about how dominant a fight Floyd put on but they're not ready yet 😕
