I'm no expert, but I know that running burns muscle. I've read that Roy did it, and I know a body builder who did a charity run. He stopped lifting, and just ran to train for the run that was 17 miles in distance. He wasn't purposely trying to drop his weight and lose muscle, but as he'd never been a runner before, he trained hard to get used to it and to build up his stamina. I can't give you any specifics about his weight etc, but he lost a lot of muscle over time. There's also many websites and forums that say the same. With regards to Roy, you're simplifying the situation he was in. How on earth could he have done nothing? He had a fight to prepare for. If he'd have done nothing, he'd have been in no condition to fight. He signed to fight Tarver in September, and the fight was on Nov the 8th. Not only did he have to hit 175 to make the weight, but he had to be in the best shape possible to deal with the threat of Tarver. He had a deadline to meet, and went against the advice of Mackie Shilstone, who said that losing muscle in a short space of time can affect the body's immune system.
We have been over this with you 100's of times before Roy usually weighed 188 or so on fight night at Light Heavyweight. He was 193 for Ruiz. He only had a small amount of weight to lose. It wasn't 25, 20 or even 15 pounds. It was much less. Jones started getting hit on his Glass Jaw (something Del Valle did years before and put him down) and he started getting KOed. That has zilch to do with 'boiling' down. Look at the time frames since you love to talk about that so much. Ruiz was March 1st of 2003. Tarver II was May 15th of 2004. 14 months is PLENTY of time to be adjusted. Roy was exposed as having: No Chin No Heart No Plan B in a fight (this has been exposed in every loss he has except Tarver II) His Chin is to blame. Well that and he started actually fighting ranked contenders and not just ABC org contenders like he had been doing for about 10 years. There is a difference. Now please go kill yourself in front of your Roy Jones shrine.
He showed he could adjust in the third round of the first Tarver fight, after losing the first two rounds.
Lets pretend this is true so one time in nearly 70 total fights and 8 losses? :huh One time? :rofl He was fine as long as things were going his way. See Griffin I as the very first example of Jones having no Plan B getting frustrated and getting DQed. There is tons of evidence the guy had no Plan B in a fight. He relied on his athletic ability and his reputation more than anything. Once fighters saw what happens when he gets punched in the face people all the sudden were not scared to take chances anymore. Why is that?
Good point The technical term for losing muscle gains due to a cessation of weight training is Detraining http://www.exrx.net/ExInfo/Detraining.html

atsch 1. He didn't usually weigh 188 on fight night at LHW. 2. He wasn't 193 for Ruiz. 3. Why are you talking about Tarver II? Nobody has even mentioned the rematch. You have jumped into a debate regarding his weight loss for their first fight. 4. You are a hater pure and simple. You can never answer any of my questions that I ask you, and I always shoot down your links. Also, you'll happily ignorantly ignore any videos, links, or excerpts that doesn't suit your agenda. You love focusing on HBO's public criticism of him from the past, yet at the same time will ignore the times where they publicly supported him. Basically, you're a joker. So go away, and let the big boys play. You don't possess the required amount of knowledge to make any valid points.
Woods: Crawford Ashley Glen Johnson Julio Gonzalez Gonzalez: Glen Johnson Dariusz M Griffin - An official win, but it was via a cut. Neither guy was great, but I don't they could be referred to as bums.
How are these links relevant to Roy's situation? Another Fan says Roy could have watched TV to lose his muscle mass. But how could he have done that, when he had to be in the best possible shape to fight Antonio Tarver? Roy didn't have months and months of time to lose the weight like the powerlifter in your link. And how on earth can we do any sort of comparisons with a powerlifter and a boxer looking to hit a certain weight at a certain time? Roy couldn't simply detrain in the same manner.
