Yes I know they tested him for SOME of his fights after that. I remember reading that as part of his punishment (or rather the little slap on the wrist he got given) he had to agree to send his next two pre-fight drug tests to the Indiana commission. However, to the best of my knowledge I don't think he was being tested at all before that fight (for over the first decade of his career).

According to Clinton Woods neither he nor Roy were tested for their fight either, which is mind boggling considering that it was only a few years earlier Roy's test result came back dirty. Why didn't they test him then?

'Former IBF light heavyweight champion Clinton Woods says he’s not surprised that former opponent Antonio Tarver and other prominent American boxers are testing dirty. “I fought in America three times and the testing situation was always joke,” Woods told the Sheffield Star. “In three fights, I had one little test and was told it was only for marijuana. It’s always annoyed me how rife American boxing is with drugs and steroids, but at least they are cracking down on it now and people are being caught. The trouble is that people there will only get fined pocket money.”

On the loss to Tarver, Woods stated: “Did he have steroids in him when we boxed? I wouldn’t know. But in fairness he didn’t beat me because of anything like that, I just underperformed.

“I’d like to see random tests to keep everybody clean. No decent boxer would argue with that,” he added.

''Me and Roy Jones didn't even get drug tested after the fight''

I think it's certainly plausible. Your version is Roy didn't want to Germany because he was scared of getting robbed even though he'd seen his fellow countryman and former KO victim Virgil Hill go over there (2 fights prior to when he fought him) and get awarded the decision in a unification match up against Maske who was more popular among the locals than a pint of beer and football. They didn't refer to Maske as the ''German Michael Jordan'' for no reason. Like I said, his popularity in his homeland was absolutely insane, but Hill still managed to get the decision over him in evil old Deutschland

I didn't say steroids work miracles. I've read enough of your comical ''steroids and PEDs are basically placebos'' posts in the past to realize how completely pointless it is wasting any time trying to wrench your head out of Roy's ass in order to try and convince you otherwise. They're called performance enhancing drugs for a reason and it's for that very reason why athletes take them.

You're putting words in my mouth and then laughing at something I never even said lol. When exactly did I say these things? Show me please?

And again, they don't call them performance enhancing drugs for no reason. They might not turn a tortoise into a greyhound, but as much as it pains you to admit it, and it clearly does, they can and do help to enhance both athletes and their performances and give them unfair advantages.

The fact that Roy still wanted to cheat when he was already blessed with so much natural talent and ability only makes it even worse, IMO. And it's obvious to anyone with a brain (anyone who's not a member of the RJ ****ing appreciation society) he was on steroids throughout his best years.

Why do you Jones nuthuggers always carry on like Roy is the only one who is affected by wear and tear and the ageing process? His rivals are completely immune to such things though. Michalczewski was well past his best by the time he lost to Gonzalez. He only fought once more after that. He was a very aggressive fighter who absorbed tons more punishment and cumulative damage throughout his career than Roy ever did during the course of his. He was also a notorious party animal and playboy outside of the ring too.

When Roy loses it's because he was ''shot'' or because his punch resistance disappeared over night, but his rivals are always smack bang in the midst of their prime right up until they hang their gloves up. lol

And the Germans didn't rob Gonzalez when he went over to Germany either. Hill and Gonzalez both went over there and came back victorious but Roy wouldn't even entertain the idea of going over there.

No, not right. Completely wrong in fact. The point I was trying to make obviously flew right over your head. Go back and read again.

What a crock of **** argument, Imperial. I'm sure you're a nice guy and all but this post couldn't be full of anymore :patsch if you tried. You're still railing against things I haven't even said.

No, wrong again. Hall shouldn't have beaten him from pillar to post because his testosterone levels were higher. Try actually reading what I've said before responding.

And yes we do know what he tested positive for - anabolic steroids. Don't even think about trying to turn this into a Ripped Fuel, nasal spray, or whatever other bull**** excuse argument you can muster up because I'm not interested in going round in circles with delusional nuthuggers. Roy tested positive for anabolic steroids end of.

And Steroids and PEDs are not bloody placebos. I've already explained my stance on not believing they don't work miracles, but contrary to what you man crush on Roy compels you to believe, they do enhance both athletes and their athletic performance and taking them is cheating.

No wrong again. I don't think that.

And this doesn't even make any sense to what I said. I was alluding to the double standards and different set of rules you Roy nuthuggers apply to him and how you don't apply them other fighters, especially rivals of his.

This doesn't make any sense to what I said either. I know why Roy took less punishment than Michalczewski, I was explaining to the reasons why Michalczewski wasn't in his prime when he fought Gonzalez, which is a line that you Roy nuthuggers often peddle. It's those double standards and different set of rules regarding him and other fighters again.

And Roy's glass jaw would've been getting shattered every other month had he fought as aggressively as Michalczewski, with or out his roids. :yep

No, you're clueless. You're the one who CONSTANTLY tries to make out PEDs are essentially placebos and you do because your head is so far up Roy's ass that it blinds you to reality. I never said they were a wonder drug or that we should attribute all his success to them but you want to keep arguing that I have. Roy was a superb natural talent and a fantastic fighter but he was also a drug cheat who augmented himself by taking PEDs.

And you Jones disciples need to be reminded of the fact that your messiah was a drug cheat because it's something that most of you seemingly A. Conveniently keep forgetting and B. Clearly couldn't give a **** about. And then you have the audacity to pretend you're not a bunch of steroid apologists and that you don't actually condone cheating lol.

Thing is, I've always actually liked Roy even though there are things he's done things I disapprove of or that disgust me. I have loads of his fights on my external HDs, some of which I still haven't got round to watching yet.

Just in case you think I'm bull****ting.

It's glaringly obvious he was on steroids during his best years. Does this look like someone who's clean to you? And that was a MW Roy who wasn't being tested.

    http://imgur.com/PBpn8XY

It's obvious he used them for the John Ruiz fight too and we know he got caught taking them at LHW, which to the best of my knowledge was the first time he was tested for them as a pro, which also IIRC he had no idea he was going to be tested for. Anyone who thinks he only cheated the time he was caught is delusional and it's equally delusional to think he was clean when he wasn't being tested at all too.

I didn't say he had to fight that way I was explaining what would've happened if he did. And besides, I was only half being serious anyway.

Gonzalez was a pretty good fighter for one. And yes, Michalczewski was too far gone to beat him by that stage of his career, although it was pretty close from what I remember of it, not seen it in ages though.

And that 18-0 Zsolt Erdei was a damned good fighter too, and a highly decorated and experienced amateur who had over 230 amateur fights finishing with an overall record of 212-20.

Erdei was also world amateur championship gold medalist, an Olympic bronze medalist (losing to the excellent Russian Gaydarbek Gaydarbekov who was an Olympic gold and silver medalist) and a 2 x European gold medalist and a 1 x silver medalist too.

Erdei beat a lot of great amateurs too. His list of victims include:

The great Cuban Ariel Hernandez who was 2 x Olympic gold medalist and a 2x gold medalist at the world amateur championships (it would've been 3 had he not lost to Erdei in the final).

The superb Russian Alexandr Lebziak who was an Olympic gold medalist, a world amateur championship gold and silver medalist, and a 2 x European gold medalist and a he also won a silver and 2 bronze medals at those championships.

He beat another superb Russian too - Yevgeny Makarenko who was a 2 x gold medalist at the world amateur championships, a 2 x European gold medalist and he also won a bronze at those championships too.

Another of Erdei's amateur victims was the excellent Kazakh Yermakhan Ibraimov who was an Olympic gold and bronze medalst, and a world amateur championships silver and bronze medalist too.

Erdei also beat a couple of other fighters who won bronze medals at the world amateur championships too.

So in addition to Erdei being a highly decorated and accomplished amateur himself, he also beat 3 Olympic gold medalists (one a of them a 2 x gold medalist), 3 world amateur champions (2 of them 2 x winners) - and the world amateur championships are even harder to win than the Olympics, 2 European champions (both 2 x winners) and numerous opponents who won silvers and bronze medals in all those championships too.

Erdei was also a 2x world champion as a pro, and at 2 weights - LHW and CW.

Anyway, I'm done with this thread. No hard feelings, Imperial. :good

That wasn't the first time we'd been through that either.

And yet here you are again launching the exact same accusations at me, the exact same straw man arguments and untruths even though we've been through it all before and I've explained my stance on all of this numerous times before.

Either you are suffering from a severe form of mind sickness or you need to put the joint down.

The deal for the Pavlik-Calzaghe fight was worked out after Calzaghe-Hopkins but Calzaghe got cold feet and pulled out to fight faded Jones.

Calzaghe became a WBO super champion after he beat Brewer and one of the perks of being a super champion is you can have as much time as you like between mandatory defences. It's the reason why Jmm was sitting as a mando for Hamed for over 2 years. Calzaghe had 20 title defences and only 5-6 of his opponents were mandatory challengers. Fighters like Bute, Dawson and Froch were all ranked within the WBO top ten when Calzaghe was the champ but he skipped over them to fight guys like Evans Ashira.
Calzaghe last mando defense was against Veit II(05) and he would not make another defence even though he would not even vacant the belt until the Jones fight (08).

So Dawson never had a chance of getting a mando shot. Calzaghe simply did not fight southpaws. He missed everyone in every division he fought in, unless you count Branko Sobot:huh

Anyway the fight was offered to him as part of a Showtime deal in 06. It was a 2 fight deal where he would of had to face Kessler and Dawson and he passed on it. He could of fought Dawson after Jones but instead he said some nonsense about Dawson not being a name:lol:

There was nothing for him at smw. He is on record saying the same thing himself. He also said it was hard for him to make the smw limit. On top of that he didn't have to stay at lhw. He could of moved up fought DM and then moved back down.

Why do you keep saying that when that fight had no bearing on Sheika getting a shot at Calzaghe.
    http://www.thefreelibrary.com/BOXING:+I'LL+MAKE+YOU+PAY,+CALZAGHE.-a063837999

Calzaghe pulled out the Johnson fight twice in 04 claiming to have a bad back
Pulled out again in 06, claiming to have a bad hand.

Claimed he could not fight Johnson after the loss to Woods III, although he had already fought a number of opponents who were coming of recent losses like Reid, Brewer, Mitchell and Salem

Could of fought him after Hopkins, but decided to fight Glen Johnson victim faded Jones instead:patsch

What if RJJ fought Calzaghe and won? Would he be considered the GOAT @ SMW, with wins over Toney and Calzaghe?

If he had of beaten Calzaghe, I expect it would have been his biggest win by far and there would likely be many posters who would not be feeling as insecure on here now, like there currently is when Calzaghes name is mentioned

Pavlik was going to move up
    http://www.thesweetscience.com/columnists/ron-borges/5970-pavlik-waiting-on-answer-from-calzaghe

    http://www.***********.com/frank-******-responds-tells-all-on-joe-calzaghe--16188

Nope. I checked it out years ago. I don't have the time to check it right now, but as a example tell me the mando challengers he fought after Veit I?

You do not miss every southpaw in every division you fight in unless you are doing it on purpose

You are also overlooking the fight that they were both lhws at the same time
He was prepared to drop back down to 168lbs for Calzaghe (see Showtime quote posted later on)

The very fact that he was allowed that amount of time between defences proves my earlier point
Which opponent was a IBF mando?
He vacated it in June 08
    http://fightnetwork.com/news/518:calzaghe-vacates-wbc-wbo-belts/

    ????????

Hopkins was not the man at lhw, Dawson was. It's the reason why Hopkins wanted nothing to do with him. Dawson was bascially a improved version of Jermain Taylor.
    http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/columns/story?columnist=rafael_dan&id=2927585

The fact that Hopkins would go on to beat Pavlik doesn't change the fact that Calzaghe backed out of the Pavlik fight. It was the Lockett destruction that made Cazlaghe change his mind

Hopkins ducked that fight for years until he got cornered. He wanted a rematch with Pascal but Pascal was legally obligated to give Dawson a rematch. Dawson said that the only way he was going to drop the legal obligation was if the winner of Hopkins-Dawson II signed a contract to fight him. Hopkins won and the rest is history
