they were both exhausted at the ends of round 5 and 6 but LL was dominating by that time and would had stopped vitali soon after anyways

 

I thought the best Vitali would have had more than 2 weeks of training but ok.

In every gif that's been posted, the knuckle portion of Lewis' glove clearly connects at the point where the cut is opened. The only way that the thumb could have caused the cut over the eye was if it mysteriously had been transplanted to the other side of Lewis's hand.

As it stands, I'm inclined to believe that the thumb may not have connected with Vitali's face at all. No swelling or laceration appeared under the eye as a result of the blow, and VK didn't really begin blinking or displaying any signs of distress normally associated with someone who has been thumbed in the eye.

 

Vitali had adequate training he was supposedly fighting for the chance of the next title shot till Johnson dropped out. Vitali was 100% ready Lennox was barely 80% & still beat Vitali TKO in 6

 

Byrd did it against Vit on Less notice gi ing up far greater dimensions in size. Not to mention the fact Vit said he had been training for Lewis for a year. Vittles fought with heart but he came up short against the better fighter.

I've never argued any of this... I just wanted to see a rematch like many other boxing fans. I was a Klitschko fan as well as a boxing fan for life after this. I don't think Vitali was as delusional as your making him up to be though, he's just trying to hype himself up and initially the rematch. He knew the cut was bad, and the stoppage warranted.

 

BTW IB, are you of Slavic descent? You kind of look it, and the accent was a bit too good to just be a coincidence
