What a comeback from you. Is that all you could muster up? How was he ripping off HBO, when they tried to secure bigger fights for him? Go and find me a link where HBO said that Roy didn't want to fight Liles, Dariusz, Hopkins and Evander etc? HBO had a pre approved list of challengers, and they knew he had mandatory obligations. Yes, at times they were frustrated like many other people. But they kept offering him new contracts and he fought for them about 30 times, as well as being a co-commentator. I guess they really hated him. With regards to Hill, Roy had already expressed his desire to fight him before Dariusz got there first. I wasn't expecting a lot from you, but definitely more than this. Step up your game.
AnotherFan, At the time, he gave Tarver credit, but he did say that he'd got his eyes closed when he threw the perfect punch. When he was on his 3 fight winning streak, after 3 back to back defeats, he said he'd got his confidence back, and he was re adjusted back to the weight. Again, if you don't believe what he claims, how do you think he did it? He would never have sat and done nothing while he was in camp, and under his normal training conditions, it wouldn't have been possible for him to have lost muscle mass. http://fitnessblackandwhite.com/how-to-lose-muscle/ I definitely think that Roy could have beaten Evander in 2003.
Wish the prime version of RJJ fought now in the social media era that's been culminated. He'd be a star like no other.
Yes, I've no doubts that if Roy was in his prime today, this site would be absolutely flooded with threads discussing him. And I'm sure Rico would be telling us all who he was ducking.
Sanders had brute force power and speed power at the same time... He was a vicious puncher, I honestly miss him a bit. Roy would have likely been knocked out early.. If Roy somehow survived the first half of the fight, it may have been interesting. There is a reason Roy asked for more money to fight Sanders, he is actually pretty smart and knew he was likely going to get sparked.
Styles make fights, and Sanders was all wrong for HW Roy. He would not have been as easy to tame as Ruiz, and would have really put everything he had on Roy early. It was really a horrible fight for Roy.. A tough HW that was all wrong for him without a big name to casual fans was not what Roy was going to risk losing for without a huge check.
I make this suggestion with profound respect and understanding. That said... Loudon, Have you considered writing a Roy Jones Manifesto and posting it as a thread? Maybe it would be easier than turning every mention of Roy into a 50-page pileup. Thanks for your consideration and be sure I receive proper credit
