Dokes was "DYNAMITE"!!! I think I liked his corn rows which made him stand out. McGuigan is a great call. Forgot about him.

Mike Tyson. Just a highlight reel of knockouts. Beautiful to watch, his punching technique and combinations were quite something.

Seems like they were always in exciting fights (lots of them).

My favorite was Roberto Duran, who i think is the best fighter I ever saw, and Mike Weaver, his fights were usually exciting and you really weren't sure who was going to win, that and Weaver fought a lot of good fighters.

A bit of an interesting story about Boza. I read in George Francis's bio, about his son walking into his gym one day with a small hippie guy who said he wanted to spar with John Conteh. Francis was training Conteh for a big upcoming fight, so told the guy to fuk off, and don't be stupid, so the guy stormed out of the gym.

Francis's son says something like " Well done dad you probably just got me sacked from the Shepperton Studio's job. That is Paul Rodgers the singer songwriter / leader of the band Bad Company, who we are building stage sets for them to shoot film of their music. "

Boza said " Go get him back, I'll steer him round the ring "

According to the bio they sparred together often over the next few months with big George saying to him he could possibly get to area level champion if he worked really hard at it and got his haircut.

Rodgers obviously declined, perhaps he thought there was more money for him in music.:lol:

In McGuigan's case it would be corn beef and cabbage...rows.
Others I forgot to mention are Blade Barkley and Macho Camacho. Hyped about Camacho when I was a kid. Which fight did he drop the "N" bomb?

Hagler, because my old man was a bit of a Hagler fan and Hagler-Hearns was the first fight I remember ever seeing.

Lucky S.O.B.! You dove in without a parachute and hit the ground running. Can't get any better than that.

I think it was when he beat Ramirez.
The way he said it, he was a few years ahead of his time ... and the wrong colour !
