Yeah I miss him too. He was really fast for a big guy and had naturally very heavy hands. He destroyed Al Cole with contemptuous ease and Cole was a tough guy who'd never been stopped, let alone blown out in a round. Cole was part of Roy's stable and was trained by Alton Merkerson IIRC.

Sander was really dangerous when at his best, especially during the first four rounds.

I'd like a bash at doing his biography. It amazes me that one's never been done. But hopefully he'll write his autobiography when he's retired.

Because as we all know Jones never got hit in his prime, which explains why Griffin was landing so many left hooks during their first fight:huh

His camp for Tarver was 8 weeks. that is 2 weeks longer than his normal training camps.

Archie Moore dropped 10 lbs in a week for Johnson 4
Harmon dropped 7 lbs in 4 days for Griffin
Byrd dropped around 40 lbs in 5 weeks for George
Eubank dropped 8 lbs in 11 days for Calzaghe

Jones struggles to cut 7+lbs in 8 weeks:huh

    193? Scales wrong
    199? Scales still wrong
    206?:patsch
Why are you not supporting Jones claim that he was really 206?

    Championship weight? Really?:patsch

The fighters you mentioned cut excess weight whereas Jones, an elite athlete with a low body fat ratio, had to lose muscle. Big difference.

    ?????????

He needed to use heavy weights (high stress) to bulk up and maintain his hw physique. If he stopped doing heavy weights and started doing bodyweight(mid stress) training instead then the process of detraining would of shrunk his muscles down to the size to deal with the lower stress form of resistance training. In other words he didn't have to do anything different from any of his other lhw camps.
    ????????

Detraining shrinks muscle mass at a rate close to 1lb per week. The powerlifter dropped 24 lbs in 7 months, which is the equivalent to dropping 0.85 lbs of muscle per week. As soon as he stopped the regime required to fight Ruiz then he would of started shrinking back to his pre Ruiz form. If he started boxing training then the process would of been even faster due to the fact that cardio causes muscle loss as well
    http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/ask-the-muscle-prof-best-cardio-for-preserving-mass.html

This is the reason why it was so easy for Byrd to cut all of the muscle because he would of been losing muscle due the fact he had stopped doing weights and the fact that he was running everyday which would of also been causing muscle loss. He cut 40 lbs in 5 weeks and you are trying to tell me that Jones struggled to cut 7+lbs in 8 weeks.

Jones story doesnt make any sense and he knows it which is why he tells so many lies

    Lie 1:
    http://www.mensfitness.com/life/sports/punchers-chance#sthash.N8nES5yx.dpuf
    Impossible.
Even with steroids (which he most likey used) the most he could of hoped to put on in that time frame would of been in the 7+lbs region
But Jones tells that lie to set the foundation for his next lie

    Lie 2:
    http://www.mensfitness.com/life/sports/punchers-chance#sthash.N8nES5yx.dpuf
He did not cut 25 lbs of muscle because he never put that much on in the first place.

But Jones has to tell those lies because it sets up the final lie and the point he is trying to make
    Lie 3:
    http://www.15rounds.com/roy-jones-jr-conference-call-transcript-110208/
So according to Jones it took him around 5 years for his body to recovery from dropping a imaginary 25 lbs of pure muscle:huh
And by telling that lie he can then refuse to give any credit to any of the opponetns he struggled with, post Ruiz like Johnson and Tarver

And this is the guys you like quoting all of the time?

    Put in perspective.

He started his pro career at 157lbs, he managed to capture a version of the HW title against someone who was 220lbs and love him or hate him, Ruiz was a pretty competent HW with good wins over the likes of Rahman, Holyfield, Oquendo, Golota, McCline.

Jones Jr was a great, without question, but relied so much on his physical gifts that by the time they started to slide, he went from great to average very quickly.

What was the purpose of posting up those links?

    This is not new information.

Regarding your final paragraph, how many times did Roy get taken out like he did against Tarver, when he was younger?

    You do make me laugh.

    Let's look at your list.

Was that overall weight, or pure muscle?

It appears that Roy cut somewhere in the region of between 7-10 pounds of muscle, but around 20 pounds in OVERALL weight.

So don't make out that all he had to lose was a measly 7 + pounds. Merk said he kept his HW physique throughout the summer, because he was open to having a big money HW fight. Now I've no reason not to believe that, when I know he and his team had negotiated with Evander and Sanders. So if he'd kept his physique, he was hitting camp at somewhere in the 190's, with a low percentage of body fat. We both know that he weighed around 196 for Ruiz according to Thomas Hauser who you respect. So from 196 down to 175, is an OVERALL loss of around 20 pounds, give or take.

So again, let's have a look at your list.

Are you saying that Eubank lost 8 pounds of muscle in 11 days for Joe, or that he lost 8 pounds of OVERALL weight??

And the same question applies to EVERYONE else on your list.

Roy didn't simply only have to lose 7 + pounds in an eight week period.

I don't how you can type 'huh' and scoff at his claims of struggling to drop the weight.

Other people have also lost muscle the way Roy did, by working out in a fasted state.

But in your opinion, it was nothing?

I don't buy the 206 at all. I think it was pure kidology. But I saw Ratner re weigh him, and then apologise and share a joke with Mackie. And I know that you've supported Hauser's post and have claimed in an old thread that Roy weighed 199 pounds, and 196 without his clothing. So why are you questioning the 193, when you know that it was wrong?

    Bingo!

    He's completely biased.

He just words things where it shows Roy in a negative light.

Roy lost around 20 + pounds of overall weight, not just the 7 + that he's mentioned.
