Dude was running on fumes by the 3rd round. He needs to see some kind of specialist or something or start training outside of his garage.
He gasses way too fast. But I don't think it's correctable. Stamina like power is a gift. Some have it some dont.
Boxing trainer James Gogue said he was absolutely shocked by Canelo's lax attitude to training when he visited one of his camps. He said that he basically trains as hard as he wants to and that his team just go along with it. Apparently he (or at least he did up until recently) hits the bag for a few minutes and then just goes walkabout and takes a break. He does the same during other gym work too. Probably explains why he fights in spurts most of the time.
I noticed this, as well. It doesn't seem like he gasses completely, more like he just takes intermittent breaks during rounds to husband his energy so he can explode with some punches, combos, etc. I remember Naazim Richardson pointed this out during Canelo/Mosley, too. He claimed it was because Canelo was having difficulty making weight, fwiw.
His team will be his downfall they are very in experienced it was noticeable when Canelo couldn't make the right adjustements in the Lara ,Trout and Mayweather fights
They should never have allowed him to go down to 152 for the Floyd fight either and his tactics in that fight were stupid as well.
Not at all and Canelo was clueless as to how to cut off the ring and since the MW fight not much has changed
If you're fighting nonstop you'll be breathing at the end of round 1. 3 minutes is a long time to me going all out. Not that Canelo was going all out but Kirkland wasn't giving him a break.
:yep That's always in the back of my mind when I watch Canelo fight. Maybe he's really knuckled down since but it wasn't that long ago. I think it might have been for the Floyd fight.
