Glad Canelo is doing everything he can to keep boxing interesting. Here's a young man willing to fight anyone... no ducking, no cherry picking, no excuses.... Tonight's fight is a perfect example. High risk low reward type fight... The HUGE crowd seem to love it, and I'm sure the TV viewers loved it also. I'm cheering for this kid, I hope he goes far. He's the type of fighter that can be great and can be loved even with losses on his record. Good night for boxing.
**** me you guys are idiots. This is a bar room brawl by two unskilled fighters who walked into punches. This wasn't a boxing match.
Canelo is everything people could want in a boxer, and at 24, he has his whole career ahead of him. People acting like he isn't the lead candidate for the next generation's defining fighter are fooling themselves.
Canelo was a 9/1 favorite. If that's what people want though, to see popular fighters take on walking punching bags with little shot of winning, then so be it. If that's a breath of fresh air, then fans should be besides themselves with anticipation for next week's card.
People want to see high action fights and this one promised to be one and actually delivered. And YES anyone who likes to see action-type fighters like Canelo and Kirkland should be happy as hell to see GGG and Gonzalez.
Well, Mayweather was a little more than a 2/1 favorite against a Mexican fighter who had 15 lbs. on him in his very next fight. He stood right in front of him and won damn near every round. We've seen how Canelo performs against the A level fighters. But hey, he can make a good career for himself hand picking underwhelming opposition and beating them up on regular HBO.
Golovkin and Gonzalez are 44/1 and 32/1 favorites. If that's what the people want, then promoters should follow suit. There should be no complaining about how the best should fight the best, or cherry picking. Promoters should just hype up their guys and continually pit them against hand picked opponents, in showcase fights.
