You're clearly missing the point here.

 

Alvarez was 23 when he fought Mayweather. He's about to turn 25 in a couple of months. Canelo is a good fighter, but tonight was no breath of fresh air. They hand picked a guy that was tailor made for Alvarez. Kirkland hasn't beaten anyone besides Angulo, is up there in age for a guy of his style, and has been terribly inactive. This was a straight up mismatch. If fans rejoice in mismatches, then that's what they'll get. Look at the upcoming fight lineup and you'll see the schedule is full of them.

And youre not going to acknowledge at all that Canelo was weight drained down to 152 for floyd? Nah! we`re just going to forget about that.

 

I'd rather see him fight quality opposition. I'd be much more impressed if Golovkin pot shot his way to a win over Ward than I would if he steamrolled an ESPN level fighter.

 

EXCITING fight, I could care less of the technical aspects since I don't box. Honestly, I just love boxing for the blood and guts

 

Mayweather's mismatches though are because he is just too good. Canelo and Pacquiao weren't supposed to be mismatches. Guerrero and Maidana were top 5 Welters. Maidana was a title holder. When is the last time Mayweather fought a non top 5 fighter? Canelo had a good run when he fought Trout, Lara, and Mayweather. However, Angulo, Lopez, and Kirkland were all hand picked fights against guys who weren't even top 10. I'm not saying he needs to fight top guys all the time, but acting like he's doing something special by beating cherry picked opposition is just too much.

 

Mayweather is a pot shot artist, that's who he is. And he beat the hell out of Guerrero. And Maidana, actually had a stylistic advantage over Floyd; which is why he performed better than Canelo and Pacquiao. Mayweather is fighting top 5 guys almost every time he steps into the ring. As much as you try to clown guys like Maidana and Guerreo, they're both better than Kirkland. If Mayweather fought a Kirkland level fighter and beat the hell out of him, nobody would care. The standard for Mayweather is way higher than other fighters. Then again, he's better than everyone else and gets paid a lot more.

 

That was entertaining while it lasted but there's levels to boxing and Kirkland wasnt anywhere's near Canelo's. I felt sorry for the guy because that was a hardcore kill job waiting to happen. The dude got put in over his head and cashed out on.
