Both are two division title winners that beats anything done by Lara and Trout and Angulo shouldn't even be mentioned.
It's funny that you seem to have problems reading. Never did I say anything about Maidana and Guerrero being better than Lara and Trout, although I would definitely take both over Angulo. What I said was hat Angulo, Kirkland, and Lopez were all cherry picked opposition. I also said that despite what you say about Maidana and Guerrero, they were both top 5 WWs when they fought Mayweather.
Canelo has already fought a number of tough opponents who cares if he throws in a soft touch action fight here and there. Plus Kirkland is a dangerous fight who was not willing to let the fight go To decison
I think this guy stylez is mad because of the contrast of the fights from last weekend and last night. While the crowd booed Floyd and the fight, Canelo got nothing but love by his huge crowd.
It convinced me that I would rather watch an over matched fighter with huge power go toe to toe with another power puncher over an over matched fighter such as Guerrero with below average power chasing Mayweather around the ring as Mayweather pot shots all night from a safe distance. Just depends what kind of over matching you prefer... at least Canelo takes on the toughest fights available and tries to decapitate them.
Canelo is young and doing great. I'm sure Mayweather at 23 was not that far behind what Canelo has done in boxing at his young age. Don't be mad.
But let's be honest, Kirkland was a sacrificial lamb last night. He was a known quantity. And, yes, Canelo is a tough fighter but let's not overdo the praise. Is he willing to fight anyone? We will see...if he steps in with GGG. Actions speak louder than words.
So that would include Canelo, the same guy you're trying to prop up in this thread. Mayweather is 23-0 against world champs, has been a p4p fighter since 1998 and has won 4 lineal titles. If you want to say that Mayweather's whole career since Castillo is a cherry pick, go right ahead. But that's going to include guys like Judah, Hoya, Hatton, Marquez, Mosley, Cotto, Canelo, and Pacquiao. That means Canelo has fought nothing but cherry picks, including his next fight; which will be against a guy Mayweather beat 3 years ago.
I hope those who are saying this is just a bar room brawl aren't the same ones who hate on defensive boxers like Mayweather. Sure Kirkland was made for Canelo because he's a tough boxer with good skills. Reminds me of DLH vs Mayorga.
I have no problem with Canelo. I have no problem with casual fans getting excited about him. However, this is a boxing forum. We're supposed to be hardcore fans. Hardcore fans don't usually get hyped about an established fighter beating up a cherry picked opponent. I was way more impressed by his win over Lara than last night's fight.
As long as they see KOs drunkards could care less really. Ever wondered why GGG is getting praises for feasting on 200 to 1 underdogs?.
