Seen that Jamie Conlan who signed wtih MGM recently is rumored to be bill topper for the card. Ciaran McVarnock and Joe Selkirk have also been confirmed and Fitzy, David Mcguire and Declan Geraghty also rumoured to be on it to. Sounds like a good night of boxing. Hope it gets a good turn out. Would really like Philip Sutcliffe and Tommy McCarthy to get a place on that bill to ya know. They need all the activity they can get.
^ What about Macklin? If he is going to continue boxing he needs activity. He needs to rebuild. Why not him on the bill?
No... no....you're mixing up the middles....perhaps you mean Andy Lee? or maybe the mouthy midget McGroegar?
He'd definitely be a quality addition but I just cant see it. The bill is less than 2 months away at the moment and Macklin isn't a young fighter who can just jump into another camp like that again, regardless of how easy his last fight was. Plus id like to think Macklin would be aiming for a pretty big step up in his next fight and i couldn't see him being ready for one by early July. Also Boxing Ireland said that Jamie Conlan would likely be the bill topper, which id say further rules Mack out. But hey id like to be proven wrong.
How do YOU make This content is protected out??? Having followed Andys career all along I can safely say his 'career best' (ie 'least worst') performances were the rematch with Vera and the first few rounds against Chavez. (Both btw under Mannys guidance - not yer man in London, under whose dubious care Andy has struggled with Horta, Jackson etc and is getting dropped in every fight)
I feel a major factor in Macklins decline is inactivity....overcompensated for unsuccessfully by too-ardous training camps. Less long gruelling gym sessions, more actual fights..thats the way to go IMO.
What world do you and 'many' live in? In my world, no-one ever rated Quillin, who btw is now pretty washed up and no longer a middleweight at all....:huh Head-to-head do you rate Lee over Macklin?
useless post this...but I was out drinking last night with the son of an irishman who fought larry holmes.

I think you're making the typical mistake that younger inexperienced boxing fans make these days ---> attaching too much importance to single fights. Thats not all your fault, due to the fact that the 'part-time' boxers today fight 1-2-3 times/year, by default too much weighting attaches to each individual performance. In reality Macklins recent poor showings havent been much worse, if worse at all, than the usual fodder we get from Lee. Macklin has just sunk to Lees level, thats all. Lees much-touted 'spectacular improvement' under Adam Booth is a myth. Years ago, when pros were active boxers, a loss was just an occupational hazard, soon forgotten. Many of the 'greats' had a dozen losses or more. If Macklin cant perform safely and efectively then of course he too should retire. But lets give him a chance to resolve this one way or the other. A few fights will do that, and if he cant perform, then he should retire.
