Nobody is saying that Holyfield is more inconsistent than Ali's opponents.

I am saying that he was more inconsistent than Ali himself.

Ali never lost to somebody like Michael Moorer, and neither did Frazier.

Holyfield's loss to Moorer was a very close fight.
Ali received two or three decisions in fights as close.

It is not productive to bring up their respective losses, as empty shells.

Do you see Ali or Louis loosing to Moorer?

Or letting a 40+ Foreman finish the fight on his feet?

At their very best, Lennox Lewis and Joe Louis might come out undefeated. Since this is over a decade of wear and other intangibles, however, further whittling may be necessary.

The way to go, quite naturally, would be to start them young. It doesn't require a prime Joe Louis to make paste of a past it Liston twice. Frazier, though, is another proposition entirely. Eventually, Louis will lose focus as he did against Schmeling. This could see him match 5-1 if he can defeat the marauding Foreman in his 30's; but, Buddy Baer he was not.

Holmes is another likely candidate, but he'd do no better than Ali.

No one. Ali is not only an ATG heavyweight...he's an ATG period. He faced an absolute murdurer's row of opposition.

Same goes for me. Over that time period with the opposition mentioned and plenty of bouts in betweeen,Ali's resume was truly remarkable.

Holmes-Frazier always a close one for me. Over 15 I see Joe doing it. Larry just maybe over 12.
